I've had one that had a lot of canned and frozen fruit that I liked. I know it had Mandarin Oranges, pineapple, strawberries and some other stuff. I could just make up one but thought some of you guys might have a good one. Fruit Salads are usually very low in sodium so it should fit in my diet.
Well who here will be having the traditional "black-eyed peas and cabbage" this Saturday. I quess thats one tradition my family has adheared to (except the kids) more than the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
What is a good way to fix ocra besides ocra and tomatoes and fried ocra. I seem to have an abundance of this stuff and need new ways to fix it. I've added it to soups and if you put it into a slow cooker with stew for 8 hours on low it just evaporates.
Disclaimer - Be very careful with my times and temps. I'm using a low wattage toaster oven not a conventional oven. Good points about a toaster oven is that they can be used outside without smelling up or heating up the house. Bad points are most of these things will have the top element on...
While buying sweet potatoes yesterday to do Cathys "Apple sweet potato bake" I picked a few more for a simple baked sweet potato and remembered these are one of the few veggies that don't require salt to be good. So after my baked sweet potato yesterday I will do sweet potato baked fries today...
Now my Dr. is saying my Potassium is too high on my last blood test and is limiting even more stuff. I think I'm down to 1/2 slice of cucumber every third week and maybe a Tsp of plain pasta on Sunday. Yea thats stretching it but not by that much.
No not the hairpiece. Sometimes I come home hungry for soup and don't have the necessary ingredients for any of my recipes so I just cook up some with "Whatever I Got". Not long ago I had one carrot, half a stalk of celery, some frozen corn and frozen green beens, a can of tomato sauce and...
I actually took this recipe from Gazzaniga's Low Sodium cookbook and altered it. To get back to the original double the chicken and half the sauce.
2 chicken breast halves
1/4 cup flour
2 Tbs Olive Oil or butter
12 oz can lemonade concentrate, thawed
6 Tbs brown sugar
2 Tbs...
I am still looking for this "Sodium Free" Baco product. Have yet to find it. I know it would not be real bacon but it's supposed to taste like bacon. If anyone runs across it please let me know. I would really like to bump up the taste of a salad now and then.
Chili. Even in Louisiana it's cool enough for some hot chili. I know you guys don't need my "low sodium" version of this but if any of you have a great recipe for everyone please post it.
As of about a month ago my standby French bread has been so so at best. My recipe called for 4 cups bread flour which made it a 2 lb loaf and it would rise almost touching the viewing window on my machine. All at once I'm getting a loaf that is 3 1/2" high at best. You can see where it was...
A crusty old bachelor and a monk were having a heated argument and the old man was adamant. There are no women in Heaven. To prove his point he gleefully quoted Revelations, chapter 8 verse 1. "and there was silence in Heaven for half an hour."
Please don't ban me Mama!
Ok, I saw a picture that flung a craving on me. Had some red in there which was probably bell pepper or could have been tomato. Just a light pasta salad that I can make sodium friendly so no cheese please. Maybe just olive oil, lemon juice, some bell pepper, green onion with a splash of red...
I was looking forward to cranking up the grill and doing burgers for the 4th of July but the family wanted to go out to eat. Soooo $100 later as I was talking to the manager of the local steak house as he said this has been the most customers he has ever seen on the 4th which is usually a slow...
It's a box about 16" x 16" and about 4 ft tall. The bottom door gives access to the fire pan and just above it the water pan and the top door are two slide out meat racks. The racks are adjustable and all pans are in slide out racks so you don't have to take the thing apart to baste anything...
We are not responding to new people very well. Universalcousine introduced her/him self about a week ago with only one response. I know the mention of the "blog" is scaring everyone away but there was no link to it and a lot of folks on this forum have a blog. We need to get a little...
In a hurry yesterday and put a venison (2 round steaks) in the slow cooker. Recipe I had called for cooking it with a drizzle of liquid smoke with onions under it. Later to be made into chipped BBQ sandwiches by adding BBQ sauce. Well BBQ sauce is another no-no in the sodium dept. so I left...
The wife fixed these about a month ago and I was told not to indulge since it was high in sodium and off of my diet. You know about the human race and forbidden fruits. Well I'm no different. After 4 times, tweaking a little each time, here is what I have come up with:
3 cups carrots, sliced...
