Usually with forum sites, if they are free, one of the draw backs is adds. Unless the person that has set up the SP Forum pays for the site, we are going to have to live with all the adds. If this is a paid for site then one of the ways to reduce the price is to allow for advertising.
Chipping in as members to prevent adds has draw backs too as I learned with another site I belonged to. One day the site was just gone.... It's a no win situation.
Last one I was on started with the adds at the bottom of the posts and then later they hit you with adds everytime you tried to post. You would have to click through them to post anything. Right now the adds arent not a bother..I just hope they stay that way and dont get any worse.
unfortunately this may be programmed by the site owner - you know those ad sense ads - if someone clicks on them you make money - not much - but it's on most blogs and sites
The only one I found on this thread was on your original post Janie. It was for "My Spice Sage". Maybe it's just a way to pay for the use of the site. Doesn't bother me that much.
BTW - Where have you been Cathy. Haven't heard from you, in like, forever. So glad to see you back here. You have to get our permission before you can leave next time.
Yeah adds have popped in this thread a couple of times. Crazy considering the original topic. I pay them zero attention. I just thought it was funny lol.
It got to a point on a pet forum I was on that you could not ignore it. In order to read or post in threads you had to click through several full page adds. It killed the site. Everyone left. I checked it out again when I got Spike and it was still dead. They had pulled back on the adds but it was to late. Everyone was already gone. It wasnt that way when it started out. It was a shame to see it go down because we were all friends.
Here where the adds are just posted to a small section of the screen is fine. That is the way they started on the other forum also. When they place them so that you have to click through them to post or read through posts that is to much.
