Snow is a rare thing in Ms...But yesterday parts of the state got several inches...we only got rain and more rain where I live. Hubby works 75 miles south of us in the State Capital and he called me early and said it was really coming down.
People don't know how to drive in snow in Ms...Hubby was coming home yesterday afternoon and said cars were in the ditch everywhere. All the kids here were dissapointed....my daughter who is 17 has seen snow only one time....lol...

A question.......has anyone ever made snow ice cream ?

yes in Columbus Ohio we have had snow all month. It's not such a rare thing here. At least there hasn't been any major snow yet. maybe half an inch on the ground right now. I have made snow ice cream. We made it as kids but I haven't made it in years. No one seems to make it anymore. They are worried about pollution in the snow. :(

Yeah and ya' gotta watch that YELLOW SNOW!!!:D

Franice when I saw it coming down in Louisiana on the Weather Channel I was tickeled pink! Wow, you know there was 8 inches around Lake Ponchetrain [spelling???] but that was amazing!!!

Francie- haven't made snow icecream ever- but it seems I recall a story and recipe of sorts for it given in the classic Laura Ingalls Wilder book "Little House in the Big Woods".

Speaking of snow in the deep south- we got many environmental/mechanical and power failure alarms for State Farm offices in your neck of the woods during the night- also in Louisiana. You poor folks- watch out! Up here in IL. we're used to the stuff of course, and equipped for it with plows, shovels, ice-scrapers for car/truck windows, not to mention heavy clothes and coats/gloves/hats/scarves/long-underwear and such! But ya'll I imagine don't have ANY of that sort of gear! Be careful and STAY WARM!

Heck - us snowbirds up here make snow ice cream and get buried! Dang crap is falling now! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I love the snow as long as I don't have to drive in it. We southerners come to a standstill if there is more than 2 inches on the ground:p But it is a beautiful sight:)

LMAO! You haven't lived have you???? Cripe - we drive on a foot or more of packed ice as if it were dry pavement! I've had my house totally buried in snow only to be found when a plow hit the tree in front that was also buried, I've had my house totally encased in ice and had to get men to chisel me out, and we love when the temps hit 30 F. That's tee-shirt weather for us! the car windows are down and the radios are blaring!

Lordy, Lordy MamaM, you must live near the Artic:p. My son and I share our home with a timber wolf (85%) and I keep the temp on 60* in summer and 50*in winter (we are hot natured thank goodness;)) and I'm sure he would love to play in that kind of snow! I could do it too, IF I could drive a snowmobile (with closed in cab:p) wherever I needed to go.

:(And we got none!!! Oh I forgot.....I hate snow YEAH!!!!!:D Not to mention winter I hate it too LOL

Give me weather where I could wear a bikini and sandals all year long and I'd be a "happy camper"!!!

One thing to remember about driving on snow/ice that most folks don't realize... Snow/Ice are SLICK when the temp is roughly 10 to 35 degrees. Once the temp falls below 10 or so, it ceases to be slick. Weird, but true!

Snow in Grass Valley

Sunday, it snowed all day and is snowing Monday, too.

It looks like a Christmas card scene outside my livingroom window. There's about eight inches of snow so far.

I'm so glad we missed the snow....lol...I'm with Cathy...bring on the warmth of Summer ! It has been raining here all day and cold.Makes me want to hibernate.

Today everything is enveloped in black ice. I was slip sliding all the way down drive way and then I had to chip my car out of the ice.

We got a foot of snow about 2 days before Halloween. It melted, and then a couple days before Thanksgiving, we got 2 more feet which never melted. It snows almost every day here. Today, I am guestimating but I think we got about 1 1/2 feet of snow. As I type this, I am looking out the window, watching the snow fall..

I attached a pic of the snow we got on tday. There is much more than that now. When I get a chance, I will take a pic of the snow mountains, err, banks around the house.
