Birthday Get Together Saturday

Any ideas on something I could take? They all know I like to cook so I want to take something.
I'm kinda drawing a blank for some reason. It is a BD get together for one of Jon's elderly uncles. He is gonna be 90. His BD is the 19th. Most of the people who are going to be there are 75+. No diabetics that I know of. Jon's Dad is making a couple of dishes and his sisters are doing alot of cooking. I had thought of making a lemon cake but of course they will have BD cake so I discarded that one. I had thought maybe take a custard pie or perhaps a pasta salad? I should take something to go along with what they have made probably and pasta salad goes with everything. We are going with my FIL and will be leaving arounf noon Sat. Im going to the store tomorrow to get the things I need.

I am leaning toward this recipe. What do you think?
Picnic Marinated Italian Pasta

Taste of Home Recipe

SERVES 12
1 (16 ounce) package shell pasta (other pasta can be used)
1/4 lb hard salami, cubed
1/4 lb sliced pepperoni, halved
4 ounces provolone cheese, cubed
4 celery ribs, chopped
4 medium tomatoes, seeded and chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1/2 cup sliced ripe olives
1/2 cup sliced stuffed olives
1/4-1/2 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
1 (8 ounce) bottle Italian salad dressing (of your choice)
2 teaspoons dried oregano (+/-)
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh basil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cook the pasta, el dente; rinse in cold water and drain.
Place in large bowl and add salami, pepperoni, provolone, vegies and olives.
Add salad dressing, spices and parmesan cheese; toss to coat.
Cover and refrigerate a minimum of 6 hours but best overnight.

Im sure one of them will either buy or make his cake. I mean it is a BD dinner so I would hope one of them thought of cake lol. He is Jon's uncle by marriage. He was married to Frank's oldest sister who died a few years ago. I think I will make the recipe I listed.
Thanks!

They liked the salad but man oh man there was tons of food there.
They had made a huge turkey and a ham with all the sides you could imagine. They had bought buckets of KFC chicken and biscuits and besides the BD cake they had tons of other desserts.
It was sad when I overheard Jon's uncle whose BD it was talking to Jons dad. They were talking about how good Jon and I always get along and I heard JOn's uncle say it was good to have someone to take care of you and that it worried him if he got disabled who would look after him because his wife and both of their two daughters are dead. Thats when Jon told him he always had family and if he needed anything ever the family would be there for him. He has one grandaughter who is adopted. Her and her husband live in Columbus OH and only come in about once a year. Neither of his two daughters could have kids because both had tons of health problems. His grandaughter is adopted.

Sounds like a yummy get--together, janie! And I feel for the uncle who kinda fears lonliness should he ever fall into ill health or need someone closeby to assist... poor fella!

Yes it was very sad to hear him say that but thankfully he is in wonderful health and very active for 90. He just retired from his second career lol. He worked til he reached 90! Can you imagine lol. He comes from people who live to be 100 or more.

Jon's aunts had been cooking up a storm. His Dad has some very sweet sisters. Anytime you go to their homes they make you feel like you are in your own livingroom.
