Cathy, are you o.k.?

I see Brook on another forum and once in a while e-mail. have not seen him there or Cathy here for a day or so since ice storn hit Kentucky.

Hopefully they are just snuggled in doing the honeymoon thing!!

Nan

:DI wish I were doing the Honeymoon thing!!! It is our "slammed" season at work and I am bogged down in the weeds so....:( Thankfully it won't be forever! Oh yeah and I had a stomache flu that knocked me out of commission yesterday (except I still had to work sick or not):( But boy when my head hit the pillow last night I was down for the count!!!

Thank you so much for your concern Nan. How are you healing? I read somewhere you took a spill? Please let me know!

I heard from Brook recently and so I do assume he is like me BUSY as all get-out! Hope it is not a weather thing, but I assure you if it is weather, he has found a way to stay warm & safe!!! I trust Brook is a great outdoors man and we need not worry about his survival skills!:)

I hear our really cold wicked weather is about to hit, if it does I will figure out a way to stay warm as well! I do not plan to stock up on meats until the threat has passed in case we do loose power. So I should be ok what with a gas stove and oven we will be able to eat and keep somewhat warm with the oven running!;) Just would have to light it manually as the electronic ignition is useless when the lights go out!

You know the really neat thing about our little on-line community is we all do really have concerns about one another, and care! That is so neat!!!

Cathy

Nan I didnt know you had taken a spill. Are you doing ok now?
Cathy how is that stomach flu?

Damn Girlfriend I was hoping for the honeymoon!!!
Sorry you've been sick, but glad you are able to get out and about, you are in taxes??

Anyway thanks for checking in!!!!

Yep Janie, I am a klutz and actually pretty much tripped over my own feet and a chair leg, at the gym!!! have a problem of not looking down.
Anyway broke my arm, simple break , upper humerus, hurts reaaallllllly bad. been two weeks tomorrow. Getting some flexibility back, no sling or anything. Was supposed to return to work last week----

but I'm fine,
Nan

Nan I am sorry for the awful accident you've had, I hate for anyone to be in pain :( broken bones are bad! Please drink lots of milk (or even take a good calcium supplement) and give yourself plenty of time to heal! I will PM you about my line of work!

Love ya, Cathy

P.S. Please don't be in too big a hurry to get back to work with your arm out of commission!

ooooo- yuch! Sorry for your mishap, Nan. That hadda have smarted!

I haven't heard from Brook in at least a good week or so, it seems. Hope he's alright. Maybe he's super-busy w/ his son's website?

I have friends that were hit hard in certain parts of Kentucky. They were able to let me know through a community center computer that there area will have no power for several weeks due to a terrible ice storm that had come through.

Center actually has something called "Wi Fi"

Heard on the radio tonight that things haven't improved much at all down Brook's way as far as all the trouble, damage and power-outages from last week's severe weather. And another storm-front appears headed their way early this coming week! Let's include them all in our prayers. Brook and his wife may be sitting at home in the dark eating PB&J, canned sardines and cold cans of greazy beef-stew... Yikes! (Hang in there, Brook! If'n we don't hear from ya soon, we'll send a search party!)

Yes parts of KY are in dire straights! It may just be more of the same headed this way again this coming week, let us do pray for a return to nice weather soon.

Today I took a walk and lo and behold there in my flower garden were some daffodils with buds almost ready to pop open, imagine the cold surprise they will get if we get hammered this week with more nasty weather:eek:

Okay- I don't want to get politcal... As a moderate, I didn't myself vote for President Obama, but I think he's a good man, w/ fantastic promise, and I have GREAT hopes for an incredible term (or two) for him, and hope he really makes a positive impact on us all, in time...

But I heard a very interesting blip on talk radio today (BTW, I am not so conserative that I adhere to talk-radio personalities, who I actually find pretty offensive)...

The weather in Kentucky has been debilitating and disastrous- yet we're hearing very little about it. I mean, it's being mentioned lightly and occasionally, but that's all.

One person I heard made a controversial remark that I think I just may agree with... Had this severe ice-storm occurred on Bush's watch, might it have been blown sky-high and highly televised from hell to breakfast? Might it have been made into a disaster and BLAMED on Bush and turned into a tragedy like Katrina? Hmmm...

I won't say I was a complete and total Bush-fan at all (though I totally respect the office of the presidency, and Bush as a man)... BUT, I definitely saw an irrational bias against him in the media- and definitely see a strange LOVE of Obama in the same media- which I find insulting.

Not exactly sure where I am on this yet, but do any of YOU all have any thoughts on the whole coverage (lack of coverage) of the Kentucky storm-thang?

Hmm I don't really think the storm in Kentucky is as bad as Katrina. I don't think it will take them a decade to rebuild Kentucky after the storm. I know people in Kentucky too and my family in Southern Ohio that were with out power for a week but the same thing happens to them every winter. Every winter during the Bush presidency my family has endured ice storms which left them with out power. The year before last they were with out power for 2 weeks. I don't think they blamed Bush.
