Colonial Bread

Colonial Bread


1 tablespoon Butter (applesauce)
1 teaspoon Salt
1/3 cup Molasses
1 1/2 cups Boiling water
1/3 cup Yellow corn meal
3 1/2 cups Bread flour
1 package Yeast

Place cornmeal into bowl. Carefully pour boiling water into cornmeal,
stirring to make sure it is smooth. Let stand to cool for about 30 min.
Stir in molasses, salt and butter.
Place cornmeal mixture in pan, then bread flour then yeast. Use light
setting. Follow manufacturers directions.
 
No - I didn't buy a bread machine - I'm still using that old 50's model - leftie and rightie - but a friend of mine uses hers daily and passed on some recipes. Heck - colonial Bread - like from the colonial days???? Leftie and rightie did all the work!! LOL
I just had to share -
 
Boy - You scared me there for a minute. I thought you had given in to the machine like I did.

No - I'm still on "automatic leftie and rightie" - I'm too spoiled by the way I can shape my bread and do things I want with it.
