cooking for Christmas???

This holiday season are you cooking for Christmas or enjoying a meal elsewhere?

This year I'm making a turkey dinner, with all the trimmings and of course, homemade pasta. Spending the holiday at home.

Whatcha doin'?

Jon's Mothers house this Sunday for her dinner. FIL's Christmas Eve for the pasta dinner. Jon and I will be home on Christmas. Ill be making us cornish hens, oyster dressing, salad, mac and cheese and dessert. We will probably go by and see his Dad like usual on Christmas. I dont like for him to be home alone all day on Christmas. Although he would never say so I know he misses having family there that day. They used to do Christmas Day at their Dads but Jons brother changed it a few years ago so that his kids could stay home on Christmas Day.

We always start our morning with a crepe breakfast! Then we open gifts, then start preparing our Christmas Dinner. Do you know I still have not decided on what we will have, but I do know it will be terrific no matter what we make, and I will fill you all in a little closer to next Thurs.;)

Christmas!

My Husband and I are going to my Sister's and Brother in-law's home for Christmas. They are catering a Italian Christmas dinner. I'm bringing a Garbage Salad, they call it that because I guess it has everything in it. lol My sister asked if I could bring it. I said sure.

I'm making Rum Balls this Christmas. I Love making those especially when it's cold out! :D I'm thinking of making spritz cookies. I never made them before. I thought it would be easy-er than a roll-out cookie cutter cookie.

Take Care Have A Good Weekend!! Cookie :)

I'm cooking also Momma. I'm just going to do a nice ham and some Au graten potatoes along with the regular sides and bread.. I will make a Sicilian style baked Ziti with egg plant for the pasta dish since I personally don't care for ham. I am going to make a nice minced meat pie from home made filling I jarred up earlier this year. I made one for the Thanksgiving feast and it wasn't enough. Everyone is demanding another. I'm not sure whether they really liked the mince meat or the amount of rum and brandy I put into it.

We are having one freakin messed up Christmas dinner. Lasagna, fried oysters, baked ziti, bread sticks, garlic pull aparts, italian pasta salad, roasted garlic french bread, garlic toast, spaghetti with homemade sauce, hotdogs, burgers, rolls, mashed potatoes and green beans and dressing. Im not sure exactly what Jons Dad was thinking with this one but it is so wrong lol. For dessert ...cherry pie, apple pie, cupcakes & brownies.

Tuesday night is at my Sister inlaws to bake cookies then Christmas Eve night at my Mother and Father in laws then Christmas morning at home with our kids (they hate it when I call them kids lol)and later in the afternoon back to MIL's for Dinner. I will cook something to take for dinner but still have not decided what.
My SIL is a wiz at baking. She makes cakes for people on the side...she made our wedding cake and it was gorgeous. So I'm looking forward to the cookie baking session Tuesday night. We have the children involved with baking and decorating the cookies and they love it.

I will probably make a side dish, but otherwise, we have xmas cooking duty off this year. I cannot say that it makes me unhappy as we have just been so busy lately. I haven't decided what to make yet, though for Thanksgiving dinner, this went so fast, I was shocked, so I may make it again:

Your recipe sounds Good, Great side dish! I do a lot of sausage - kielbasa just not on the grill. Cookie :)

Fun plans, everyone!

Our tradition is- first we all meet at Dad & Dolores' Christmas Eve Night and we have a potluck of appetizers both hot & cold ranging from shrimp cocktail, cheese & fruit, dill-pickle roll-ups, buffalo-chicken dip and smoked salmon cheeseball- to caramel corn, sugar cookies and fudge...

Then, normally we do a big turkey or ham spread w/ all the trimmings Christmas Day at sister's house- but this year I actually work a double-shift on the holiday, so we're doing Christmas Dinner on Saturday.

Monday I'm bringing Mom over to spend the night. We'll do a simple gift exchange and then proll'y just order Pizza Hut and watch a DVD. Next Night- Tuesday, we'll go to my sister's and do a bigger gift exchange there with Mom's 2 grandkids (sister's kids) and have a pot roast supper.

(My Mom & Dad are estranged- plus Dad is remarried, so we always have to do celebrations seperately w/ our parents... and you all know my Mom's mental illness story... so...)

This year I will be having Christmas dinner in Germany. DH says that it's traditional to have bratwurst with sauerkraut but isn't that the tradition for every day in Germany? When ever I'm in Germany that seems to be most of what we eat. I like the sausages but I can't do the Kraut. Yuck.

My family is coming today for our Christmas party this year. I'm making a Rosemary crusted beef roast with brown gravy, herb smashed potatoes, gluten free green bean casserole and corn bread stuffing because my Mom asked for it. Then everyone else will be bringing side dishes. For dessert it is cheesecake as usual. There would be a riot if I didn't make cheesecake. Also I have a selection of gluten free cookies.
