Do you serve a dessert everynight?

I have a friend who prepares a dessert everynight for after dinner. I have never done this. I usually will give the kids a snack before bed time to tie them over till the morning. If you do prepare a dessert is it something light or something heavy?

I hardly ever have dessert. I usually try to make the dinner big enough that there's really no room for dessert. If we're hungry before we go to bed, we'll grab a snack.

We rarely have dessert. Occasionally though, I'll make some homemade ice cream or cinnamon chips with honey. That's about the extent of our desserts at home.

I don't really believe in desserts all the time. Growing up it was a homemade pie, cake, cookies, etc. made just about every day; why not? After all bread was made every day of the week anyway so while the oven was on you may as well make more goodies. Now that I am older and the family is older - desserts aren't made every day. I stick in some nice jello dishes - jello is lighter. Even muffins can fill that craving. Of course I still make all kinds of desserts - but just not as often.

That is what we do in our house as well. The kids might have ice cream or popcorn before bed but not every night. I just couldn't imagine cooking a meal and then cooking a dessert. I really don't like to cook as it is. If I could I would eat out everynight. LOL

Pretty much the only time I serve dessert is when we have company.

Usually for the asian culture, our main course would be so filling that it's impossible to have deserts.

3 main dishes and 1 big bowl of soup to eat for a table of 4 perhaps.
so there's plenty to go around.

Hmmm, if really still hungry, probably grab a slice of bread before heading to sleep?

I don't make a dessert every night either, but my husband asks every night, "What are you planning for dessert?" or "What's the sweet dish tonight?" Sometimes its enough to make me want to smack him.

LMAO!!! Sounds cruel - but I can't help it!

But then again - when he asks what the sweet dish is - tell him

I AM!

Ive never really been a big dessert eater. I get cravings for sweet things occasionally and Ill have a chocolate or something but I usually feel like popcorn or savoury snacks after dinner.

We usually only have dessert on a special occasion, or maybe when we have guests.

My mom always served dessert every day, and I really think that was too much.

We don't always have dessert. As a matter of fact, I don't remember any moment when we've had home-made dessert. Our usual dessert is ice cream or chocolates and we don't make those. We do bake sometimes but we don't classify cakes as dessert. We have them anytime we want. :D

My mother always worries about when we come to dinner what to make for dessert, and I always tell her we don't usually have dessert. She never made dessert when I was a kid. I think my stepdad is used to having dessert. I really like a good cup of coffee after dinner. I will make dessert if the older kids are comming home from college because they don't get dessert while away and they love it when I have a good dinner for them and it gives them something to look forward to when coming home from college.

Whether I serve dessert or not depends on whether my kids have been good and eaten their dinner. If they are really bad all day, that is the first privilage they lose, is their dessert. So some weeks I never make dessert, and others I make it every night, it just depends on how they are.

I love desserts. We hardly ever make it, though.

A while after dinner, if we are in the mood, we will have ice cream. Or I will go bake some cookies or brownies.

We usually don't make dessert, only on special occasions. If I do make dessert it is usually jello, muffins, or baked apples with cinnamon, or maybe some oatmeal cookies. I try to keep it lighter. If I have cake or pie around the house, I just eat it. Not good!

I hardly ever make a dessert either. If anything, it's something like jello, pudding, applesauce, or ice cream.
