A friend of mine who was moving brought me her 6 cup black and decker food processor, deli style meat slicer and one of the older model bread machines. I told her I hated to take anything they may use but she said she had not used any of them for a few years. I can't wait to get the cleaned up and give them a try. She just married one of Jon's friends who is also blind. I havent know her for long but she seems like a very sweet lady. He did very well for himself. I love kitchen gadgets ;) Plus I got a fabalous Italian cookbook Cathy sent to me in the mail today. I cannot wait to get to Walmart and get the things I need for some recipes I want to try in it.

:)Wow you hit the jackpot Janie! I have always wanted to give a deli-style meat slicer a try! I am glad that she gifted you with those items, I know you are going to appreciate them and use them, and you deserve them too!:)

I love Jon but I wish he would give me a chance to read my book. I have started three times and he has yelled for me to do something each time. Atleast Ill get a chance to go through and read it while he does PT tomorrow.
Yeah I was pretty happy with the gizmos. I downloaded the manual for it. It is an 8 cup. I have a 3 cup one and a 14 cup processor. I had wanted one about 6-8 cups so this was ideal. I found the old manual to the bread machine online and downloaded it. I cleaned it all really good from where it was in storage for ages. That slicer will be good for cheese as well as meat. It has the dial to adjust the thickness. Next time I get groceries Ill get a big piece of some sort of meat and some cheese to try it on.

Yeah that will be nice. If you have big family get togethers or such and you want to carry deli trays with fresh meats and cheeses you will save )hopefully) by slicing your own deli meats, and cheeses. Now when you and Jon have left over roast you can slice it real thin for many uses! I could go crazy wyth one of those gadgets!

Hey, Thanks for the E-books you sent me, I really appreciate that Janie!

P.S. Tell that Jon he'd better let you alone while you read your book or you'll use it to bop him one:D And you have my permission to do so!;)

Yeah she doesnt cook so Im gonna make them a nice dinner one day very soon and drop it off to them to say thanks. She has two kids so Im sure she will appreciate it.

Definitely a good haul, especially the deli slicer. I hope it is the all-metal variety that allows the motor to be removed by loosening one screw. That way the motor is removed and the rest can all go straight into the dishwasher or sink.

I love getting pepperoni and salami logs on special and then slice them thin for pizzas and such. Make homemade bread and slice it. Great for slicing those small hams and other meats. Slice semi-frozen beef in to thin strips for making jerky, if you have a dehydrator.

I would love to have a 6-cup food processor. I need a bigger capacity one since I seem to be doing everything in batches with my regular one. Can't afford buying a new one so I'm waiting for something like what you experienced. :D

Nope it is not all metal. It is one like this but in black. From what I have read it does ok with lunchmeat but cheese it doesnt do so good with. Reviews said it does ok with bread and veggies.

The thing I was happiest with is the food processor.
She called today to see if I liked the stuff. I plan to make them a dinner in the next few days and drop it off to say thanks.

This is the food processor she gave me.
Black and Decker Quick 'N Easy Plus Food Processor

The bread machine is an older model Rival. By looking at it Im guessing it only makes 1 pound loaves. The container is smaller than the one in my other bread machine and it goes up to 2 pounds. If I could get my FIl in to making bread I would give the bread machine to him. On amazon the food processor did not get good reviews. But free is a great price. They will last as long as they last lol.

The deli slicer is a portable one that folds up, very convenient. I have one of them also and I like using it since it does not hog for cabinet space like the metal ones.

I figured out how to get the blade off the slicer so I can give it a good cleaning. I'm gonna take that extra bread machine and put it in storage. We rent a little storage space from the landlord that is about 4 miles from here on his farm. I need to go through that thing and get rid of some stuff. If you have had things in storage for 2 years you have never used I think you can get rid of it. Most of what is in there is my 200+ teddy bear collection.
