Gas Prices

Gas prices here in KY were well on their way up yesterday.
I was very happy when the governor stepped in and invoked the anti price gouging law. It went from $3.55 to $4.05 a gallon here yesterday. I hate to see what it could have gone to without the governor stepping in. I know they did the same thing in WV.
What are the prices like where you live?

$4.19 at 8:30AM when I came home from work this morning, janie. Haven't been out yet tonight to see where they are now.

Work was crazy last night. I work the graveyard shift at State Farm Insurance's huge corporate headquarters here in Bloomington. I am an entry-level operator in CMS or "Central Montioring Services". We monitor 17,000 agents' office security systems from coast to coast.

With Ike hitting Galveston and Houston at about 02:00 this morning we received non-stop power failure, telephone/computer systems failure, and environmental/mechanical and other alarms- they were pouring-in NON-STOP all night long.

Also had a HUGE surplus of fire and burglary alarms. Though the burgs were all caused by high winds blowing in doors and windows- thank God NONE of them were actual burglaries from looters or anything like that. Normally my job is real kick-back with barely a thing to do. But last night in preparation for the storm, we were triple-staffed, and I left my 8 hour shift this morning totally stressed from the constant phone-chatter, sirens and alarm receiving. It was pretty CRAZY!

But, it was NOTHING compared to the craziness those poor folks down there had to deal with! Like you- I wonder just what gas prices will do? I just woke up- haven't checked out the news at all- I better go turn on CNN and Fox...

Well over $4................and we get every dang tax there is out there on it too.

Ike didn't even hit and they were raising it 15 cents a gallon every 1/2 hour.

There is no call for it -

Gas prices here spiked because of whats going on in Texas. Stations all over ran out of regular and lines everywhere. It was said gas will be over $5 by Monday .

I honestly do not know what people are supposed to do. I see more people here in town riding bikes and even a few scooters.

This gas prob is getting ridiculous ! Hubby went to fill up with gas yesterday and the station was limiting to $40 and had to pay first. Hubby gave the Guy $100 bill and the guy told him he would have to put down an ID with the money so hubby gave him his Debit card and went out and pumped his gas. Came back in to get his change and card and the guy tried to say he didn't give him the $100. LOL,,,hubby was ticked! There was a woman behind hubby when he paid the guy and She told the guy...I saw him give you the money . Hubby threatned to call the cops before the guy would give him his change and card back ! lol...Theifs everywhere !This guy tried to pull a fast one. Glad hubby didn't punch him out !

That is horrible!

I havent been out today. I try and consolidate my trips. I went to FIL's yesterday to take him some eggrolls and fried rice I made. Got what I needed from the store on the way back. Shouldnt need to go out for a few days atleast.

You find that a lot of stations are "screwing up" with cash/cards and the pump number you are on.

More and more people are having to call the cops or they are getting quite physical with the clerks because of this same problem.

And some are downright dishonest. Can't trust anyone these days.

Best bet - if you have to prepay - GET A RECEIPT FIRST! Then pump.

I filled my car last week at $1.16 a litre.. and the next morning it was $1.34.. Like what do they take us as.. We need someone in our Governments to start keepiing a eye on this stuff.. Us as people.. need to be protected from gouging..

Same here in North Georgia, they limited us to 10 gallons, and like Mama said it went up every few hours all well before they shut down the refineries. Lucky for me I had almost 3/4 tank full AND DID NOT NEED ANY:D I drive 2 weeks on 1/2 tank and that takes me to and from work and Maddy to school and a few errands! Thank God!

I hate those *******s in the petrol business and made a firm decision the other day that I would walk and peddle my granddaughters bike to work if need be, I am not going to be a slave to these Price Gougers!!! They can kiss my ARS!!!!

And they just said on the news.. Oil went down $6 a barrel Go figure..
