Happy Independence Day to all my friends here- both new and "old"!

I'm leaving soon for a family wedding and fun trip down to St. Louis where we'll visit Six Flags, the Zoo, climb up inside of the famous Gateway Arch, and watch a few Cardinals games and such. Also hoping to sample some mighty fine grub! I'll miss ya'll... Enjoy the fireworks, make sure to stand proud & place your hand over your heart whenever the Star Spangled Banner is played, and take care of yourself and each other! See ya's next week when I get back home! :)

Have a good trip Kevin. I hope you get the chance to sample some barbecue while you are down there. There should be a few cook offs taking place this time of year.

Happy 4th from Mama - I'm the one that is exhausted from all the cooking, cleaning and dishes. Gettin' older now - wish some of those that I've spoiled for years would realize that!

Happy 4th of july angel cake!!

I had fun making this cake, this is a picture of it. It was so easy & so Good Whip Cream & Strawberries. I bought the Angel Food Cake already made, I turned it up-side down, split it in half I put whip-cream in middle of it and added fresh strawberries then more whip cream, I repeated the same thing on top, put it all together & this is what I got. It was realy Good Yum!! :p

See Mama, throwing people out of your kitchen all these years is kicking you in the butt now, lol. If people are to lazy to help with the clean up afterward, do what I do, break out your favorite store bought paper plates and plastic utensils..

I'm trying to figure out how I can swipe a piece of Cookies cake with out anyone noticing. Maybe I can fill the hole with some more whipped cream?

that is part of the problem - the other part is - eat this it will cure everything - and they do - and it's a great compliment - but they all need to wear pants with elastic waistbands and they roll out the door - I really can't see a bunch of people imitating walruses rulling around cuz they are so stuffed in the ktichen doing dishes! I'd have to step over them - LOL!!!

Hey IC - if you figger out a way to steal a piece - grab one for me!!! I'll send you the whipped cream to do it!

Mama, it's always been a tradition around here after a big meal for the majority of the males to sit in front of the TV after a big meal, loosen the belt, unsnap their britches to relieve the stress of the large meal they just ate. Then to pass out while watching the game. As soon as they know dessert is being served it's surprising how quickly everyone comes back to life.

I'm figuring that 3 cartons of cream should be enough to disguise as the whole cake Mama. I'll take the whole cake but just leave a few strawberries for decoration. She will be mad when she goes to cut it, lol.

Cookie your cake looks fabulous!!! I made strawberry shortcakes, very similar to your cake!

My neighbor makes a cake that looks similar to yours, yet she is Spanish and hers is more of a "tres-Leches Cake" meaning "3 milks cake". They use 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 can evaproated milk, 1 can coconut milk and mix the milks all together and pour over the layers of cake after they are cooled. You'd love it and it would be fun for you to try! Ofg course the cake is so moist it melts in your mouth.

lol I.C. :) I was thinking about that when making this cake (filling the hole) that is, but I made it 1hr. in advance & thought it might go flat. When I served this cake I put extra whip cream & sprinkled cinnamon on top. :p
Cookie :)

Thanks Cathy, this cake was so Good & a nice light desert for the 4TH. Cookie :)

Hey IC - I've got the motor running - I've got the getaway car - and I've decided that we should keep the whipped cream in case we want more - so let's substitute shaving cream and I've got some plastic strawberries - you think she would ever know??????

BTW -the men in my family were the same way - I've seen it my whole life - I guess italian families will never change!
