Hot Apple Pie?

Always select fresh Jalapeno Peppers and fresh Apples without blemishes, bright in color, smooth skin, large in size.Remember to use some type of glove to protect your hands while cleaning peppers. Prepare peppers by removing stems, washing in cool water, placing in colander to allow drying. Cut in half, length wise. Use a small apple corer, a knife or a spoon works well, to remove all seeds and veins, creating bowls with the peppers. Wash apples and dry. Dice apples into small cubes about 1/4” to 3/8” in size. If you’re not immediately using, sprinkle with fruit fresh or lemon juice to prevent them from turning dark.

HOT APPLE PIE style jalapeno peppers
Ingredients:
8 or 10 Jalapeno Peppers
3 or 4 Apples ( Mixed red and green ) Diced small, about 2 cups
1 to 2 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon ( ground )
Salt to taste
Olive Oil ( use your drizzle bottle )
2 Pats of Butter
Tortilla chips ( Tostitos Brand White Corn Restaurant Style work well ) ½ cup Whipped or non-dairy cream
Pre heat medium size sauce pan. Add butter, diced apples , and sugar; then cook over medium heat for about 2 minutes, stirring often; apples should be firm not mushy ; then set aside.
Pre heat your Griddle on the stove ( Electric, Gas, or Barbeque grill ) to Medium. Oil the griddle. Salt peppers then fill with cooked apples and place into pre-heated griddle for approximately 5 to 7 minutes until peppers have browned.
Arrange peppers on a plate of tortilla chips; then place remaining cooked apples in the center and top with whipped or sour cream. Grate or sprinkle cinnamon over peppers.
Don’t forget to refill your griddle with additional peppers. One serving is never enough.

Sounds interesting.....but all those jalapeno peppers would not go well with my acid reflux...can't handle anything hot.

The reflux is usally caused by Fats and oils along with some spices. The jalapeno is very mild once you remove the seeds and viens. The fact is: chili peppers are very healthy,They promote digestive fluids,increase blood flow, and oxygen to the brain.Once blistered the jalapeno has a sweet roasted flavor, some what fruit flavored. The blistering sets the natural sugars. It's misunderstood, most relate to the pickled pepper or the one's with seeds and veins remaining. Try it some time. Use a filling of chopped onions,tomatos. You'll be surprised.

Sounds interesting.....but all those jalapeno peppers would not go well with my acid reflux...can't handle anything hot.
 
Additional Facts about peppers

Chile peppers may have many more health benefits than once thought. There have been many studies that have investigated the benefits and harms of consuming foods containing hot peppers. There have been many interesting findings regarding capsaicin ( the substance that makes peppers hot).

When the body takes in capsaicin it reacts to it in a way that increases circulation throughout the body. This increased blood flow has many medical benefits. It enhances the production of protective juices in the stomach, intestines, and lungs making those organs more resistant to injury and infection. The increased blood volume helps to keep the blood vessels clear and also nourishes the heart.
Capsaicin also exhibits anti-clotting properties. Studies have shown that a number of cultures such as Thai, Indian, and Korean whose daily diet includes chilies have a lower incidence of Thromboembolism ( blood clots that cause stroke and heart attacks).
The British Medical Journal reported a study where ulcers were healed when red peppers were consumed on a regular basis. The Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer showed that capsaicin may even have cancer-blocking properties.
When applied externally it is a very effective local pain reliever. It is the ingredient in many over-the-counter arthritis medications. Capsaicins in chiles have been used to:confused:pically to the pain of shingles, toothaches, and surgery scars.

I eat jalapenos and they dont bother my acid reflux. High acid foods like the tomatoes I love so much..they bother my reflux.
 
Thank you for the great info on jalepenos, I know that they are wonderful when prepared properly, as you stated de-veined and de-seeded, I love the flavor and they are not hot that way, at least I do not think they are as I use them in a dish and all I get really is the flavor!
