I recently bought a less expensive version, cuz I was interested in the two-direction cutting idea. Had two problems with it:
First, I found it awkward to use. It's much easier to just peel half the veggie, turn it around, and do the second half.
Second, this particular model had serrated cutting edges, which left ridges in the veggie. I didn't care for this at all, and in some cases, such as shaving cheese, the peeler was useless.
Long and the short of it: I deep-sixed the thing.
