I Know I'm a Really Rare Duck...

Gotta have my coffee...but don't care for all the new fangled brews out there...just give me my plain ole..Black Folgers...lol..

McDonald's HAD the BEST coffee...and then they changed it and it is garbage, I wouldn't drink it for free. And "Griz" are you FROM Alaska? I see that we are now neighbors.

I'm with MsJimmyP I love my good ole bold roast Maxwell House and nothing better at the end of a meal than a cup of coffee;)

I cannot even pronounce some of the drinks Starbucks has, let alone drink any of it. I used to like McD's coffee but haven't really tried it lately. I guess I will have to now to give McD my vote.

They are putting the finishing touches on the new McDonalds here in town. From what I read about the new ones it is more like Starbucks. Im not sure how well that will do in this town lol.

I love coffee but I drink coffee for bad stomachs called Folgers Simply Smooth.

Hey Kev ! My December is going ok.....been freezing my Hinney off last few days though ! lol...I'm so ready for Summer to come back !

Hi geyser!

I was born and raised in farm country in central Illinois in a tiny town about halfway between Blooming/Normal and Peoria. Left for Chicago after high school, then New Orleans, then Seattle. Lived in Alaska for 13 glorious years- then returned here to Illinois full-time again just last Spring to be near aging parents and family. I love being near family again- but not sure if I'm back here forever or not. I learned to love mountains and water while up north. I could return to AK in a heartbeat when the time is right- or I also feel this strange pull to explore North Carolina too- since there'a bounty of mountains and water there... Where are you?

Kevin,

I've never had the pleasure of going to Alaska, but the North Carolina mountains are sooooo breathtaking! And what the locals call "creeks" are Beautiful running "rivers" to me and I love to just sit and "listen" to the water run by. I go to Maggie Valley 6+ times a year and have told my son when he goes off to college in eight years I'm headed for them ther hills! (My great grandmother was part Cherokee so I've traveled to mountains here my whole life.) Come visit us, you won't regret it;)

Kevin,

Julie is soooo right North Carolina is breath takingly beautiful! This part of the country between here and there is all so pretty, also Kentucky and then the parts of Tennessee where the Oostaluna and Nantahayla (spelling???)Rivers are is simply georgeous. What ya need is a nice long road trip south and stay in B&B's the whole way and get to know the locals and just see what you've been missing tucked away up in the upper USA. You will like what you see I am sure:)

Thanks Cathy & Julie... I've felt an unexplainable warm spot in my heart for years for western North Carolina. MANY folks have told me I'd love life there. I definitely plan to explore the region sometime. I want to check out the Ashville, NC area.

I like smaller towns with some city conveniences but still with a country feel. I like fun, friendly, well-mannered people. I like history, culture, art, fine food, and a reasonable cost of living. I like and have a healthy respect for conservative tradition, but I also like some healthy contemporary social views successfully mixed into the scene too. So... We shall see!

Thanks for your generous info and enthusiasm!

Speaking of coffee... at the Alaskan oil camps we had a lot of Sotuherners and we HAD to stock a brand a coffee called "Neighbors" that evidently was hugely popular to those in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Anyone ever heard of it?

I have had to have Community Coffee on hand in the Gulf? Neighbors? It's actually not to bad, I don't mind a bit of chicory.
We mostly use Seattle Best at work, it comes in little pot size packets, 48 to a case. Stays fresh and measured, no mess. Too much trash, but feel it's the best choice when you have everyone making coffee all day. The Community is usually made in the lab areas by those who enjoy it.
Here in Ketchikan we have an amazing roaster, Green Bean Coffee Company. He has beans from all over the world. I really enjoy the Ethopian and some of the Indonesian.
Come over for a mugup anytime Kevin!
Merry Christmas,
Nan

Thanks 4 the invite, Nan! I love Ketchikan... weathered-in there 2-3 times when on that milk-flight south (Juneau to Seattle)... Sitka too. I could easily live in both places!
