Unbelievably-Sinful Strawberry Ribs

soy sauce

Rub:
1 small box strawberry jello (dry mix only)
3 T. garlic powder
1 t. dry mustard
2 t. ginger
s&p

This is enough rub for 1 large rack of baby-back, or country spare ribs.
Dab soy sauce onto both sides of ribs w/ a paper-towel. Combine dry ingredients and rub onto rack, wrap in plastic and refrigerate 6 hours or overnight.
When ready, cook, using your desired method- using bbq sauce below.

Sweet-Spicy Strawberry BBQ Sauce

2 c. fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 c. strawberry preserves
1/2 c. ketchup
2 T. honey
3 T. soy sauce
juice and zest of 1 lemon
Juice and zest of 1 orange
3 T. cider vinegar
2 T. ground ginger
1/2 t. hot sauce
1/4 t. salt
dash cayenne
red pepper flakes, to taste
1 small onion, chopped

Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender and puree until smooth. Heat in a saucepan and simmer 15 minutes, or until your desired glaze-like consistency. Pour the sauce into a jar and chill, covered, until ready to use.
Makes 2 cups.

Hey Kevin! These sound really different, and yummy! I like a sweet sour flavor on my meats sometimes so this should hit the spot when I am craving that taste!

You know that avatar of you as a baby is so adorible! It is hard to believe you were ever that tiny!

Ha! Cath- I was 6 lbs. even! Can u believe that? NOT so tiny today, though! I was also born w/ a TON of dark hair. All fell out- then came back in thick again- but blonde. Over time, it got dark again. Now I'm still dark w/ some gray thinning/balding... I keep a tight, trim buzz-cut...

This sounds good Kevin. I've used strawberry jelly mixed with habenaro as a glaze for ribs. Most fruit flavors go well with pork.

hmmmm, being from the south, i don't know if that will qualify in my hood. Strawberry Ribs?
To me and i have to be the Bad Guy here ,but, Thats a little to far, i would have to pass this one By, But i have heard of something similar to this recipe, and they used chocolate barbecue sauce, that did'nt work to well either.

Guys,I am from the South and Bar-B-Que on a stick burner smoker. This seen repeats its self about twice a week. Sweet and spicy sauce is the way to go for pork and chicken. I love the fruit flavors in sauce, Peach and raspberry are my favorites. Strawberry would work great. Oh, don't forget the Chipotle Chiles. CF:D

I know it's probably just a regional difference in terminology CF but what is a "stick burner smoker". I'm familiar with a chimney smoker, a side box smoker and a box smoker but have never heard that term. Maybe I just don't get out very much.
