I'm proud of my son

My second oldest boy loves to cook and he has two children a boy 6 and a girl 7 who love to cook too. He told me last night on the phone they each have their own cooking aprons and are eager to help in any way they can. I found out my grandson has been begging his father to let him cook on the grill.

It seems these days less people enjoy cooking and it just does my heart good to know two of my grandchildren have a love for it. :)

I sure wish I lived closer to them.

You did good raising that boy! He wants with his children the memories he has with you and that is the greatest compliment you can ever get!

congrats dad - you did very good!!

I share your sentiments Rick! It is nice to pass the heritage of cooking to our youngsters and watch them enjoy cooking as adults!!! I used to love it when my middle son would call home to ask me "Hey Mom how was it you made......?" I would explain it , he'd make it and then call back to report with greatest delight how good it came out!:) My oldest son has a wife who can cook like no bodies business so of-course he called on me less;)

Another important thought, to this day my children will not eat their meals any other way than at at dining room table! They insist it is the only way for a family to eat!!!:)

EXACTLY - meals - regardless of breakfast, lunch or dinner - should be eaten together! to me - that is FAMILY time - no phones, cells, TV's - just family and spending time with them

Amen to that Cathy. I've made compromises in life, but one thing I never, ever would tolerate is eating meals alone, or at different times. Sharing a meal is one of life's greatest rewards. With as many kids as I have, there was always one who would rather be doing something else, Ward Cleaver I wasn't, but what I said, was what was done. No questions asked.

I must have been a failure. We gave my son a gas grill 2 years ago for Christmas and my DIL uses it more then he does. At least he knows how to pick girls.

Well - he may be smarter than you think!

I bought my dad a big beautiful grill for Father'sDay one year - smart man - he'd start the fire and let mom and I do all the cooking - "Mr. Grillmaster" was smart enough to only occasionally make hotdogs - that was it. He played stupid - why? He knew who the good cooks were. and he loved being spoiled by us! He wasn't going to lose out on a good thing.
