it's beyond our control...............
weights.............
shopping is not like it used to be!
Okay - what irks me (just a few):
1/2 gallon (64 oz.) ice cream - now 56 oz.
gallon (128 oz.) ice cream - now 3.75 qts.
6 1/4 oz. can of tuna - now 5 oz.
pound packages of bacon - now 12 to 14 oz.
pound packages of sausage - now 12 to 14 oz.
pound bags of frozen veggies - now 12 to 14 oz.
pound packages of pasta - 12 to 14 oz.
pound packages of deli meats - 10 to 12 oz.
nickel candy bars from my day - half the size they used to be and $1.39 or more
individual ice cream cones from the corner store - $2.19 (Nutty Buddy) (and smaller)
fudge bars, ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, creamsicles, (most frozen confections) are much smaller, made entirely of ice milk, and twice the price or more they were last year
skippy cups! OMG - no taste, smaller, just blah!
I buy loose hotdogs - I don't like the packages of 8 - I looked at the packaged ones - smaller in diameter and shorter in length
Wonder bread - long gone - the new formulas SUX - I picked up a loaf for a friend (can't believe she feeds it toher kids)
hotdog and hamburger rolls - no taste - nothing to them (I knew there was a reason for me to make them homemade)
most of today's breads on the shelves - too airy - the bread has no substance to it - waste of money
Hunt's ketchup - seems like they've watered it down
meats from the meat case - all pumped with water
expiration dates scare the crap out of me - products are lasting wayyyy to long - no thanks - I don't want it
it's bad enough you have to read the entire label when buying foods - you don't know what is in it
I grabbed 4 cans of Libby's sliced peaches for a dessert I was making - thank heaven before I checked out I saw the tiny letters on the side "MADE WITH SPLENDA" - like yeah - I want the chemicals! It may start out as sugar but it sure doesn't end up being sugar!
you even have to read your flour bags these days -
smaller packaging, lighter packaging, higher prices, poorer quality, over processed -------YUK!
give me the old days -----------------
AND - we will never be able to find the good old-fashioned margarine, American cheese (the kind that would break when you tried to fold it and tasted great!), etc. And no more Frey's liver sausage - Eirich bought them out and can't make it as good. Just like the Holly Farms chickens - great chickens - then Perdue bought them out - hate Perdue chicken. I don't like pre-basted or buttered turkeys either.
Hormel products stink too - they've ruined pepperoni.
Even the lard has changed throughout the years...................
so has Jello changed throughout the years (yes it has!), as well as the Original KFC recipe - that's changed several times - and speaking of KFC - their new BBQ grilled chicken has no flavor -
off the soap box - for now
