YES I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY!

I turn my back for a moment and all hell breaks loose in the playpen.

Each and everyone of you are taking something and blowing it totally out of proportion.

Janie blasted Tiger Woods.

I attacked Michael Jackson, Tom Cruise, and Obama.

Rick mentions the reason he has no TV in his home.

And the crap starts.

This is a CHAT FORUM.

A chat forum is where we can chat - and express our views - which we are all entitled to. And we are all adults - from different parts of the country - some have had the pleasure of living in different areas - and we come from different backgrounds. We have different beliefs - different religions - differenet tastes - different ideals. All here because we enjoying cooking, recipes, sharing, and we've become a family. A good strong family that has supported each other through many different things.

We have discussed, we have learned, we have joked, we have prayed, we have helped, we have cared - and now this crap? Over what?

Not one of us has set out to hurt another. If someone is taking something seriously - stop it. There is no call to be that way.

Rick made a strong statement. And when you think about it - he is right. There were many comments about TV - and the best was - (forgive me for not remembering who posted it) things were better when we had 3 channels.

I don't like lust, sick sex, gore, "f" bombs dropped 20 times per sentence, naked women, naked men, drug scenes, prostitution, etc. on TV. I watch very few channels. And I do enjoy NCIS, CSI Miami, CSI.

Spike has been advertising lately during CSI - how long does it take to sew on a man's "P". I would not want a child to hear that. There is a lot I do not want children to hear.

I am going to blunt - very blunt - but here are things that offend me that are on TV -

Kathy Rigby in a white leotard with her legs in a split position while doing a handstand on a balance beam advertising pads. Get real. "Muffins" show.

Cruex for jock itch.

BOB! I'd like to punch that ridiculous grin right off his face.

Male enhancement products.

"Jelly" that takes a woman wherever!

****** commercials - kids sing that song!

I don't watch TV to learn about jock itch, toe nail fungus, acid reflex, hemerroids, traces of toilet tissue left on your behind, dandruff, dentures, boiling catheters, leaky bowel syndrome, or to hear that if I take a certain drug I will end up with 17 different diseases that will do 120 different things to other parts of my body.

I actually mute commercials.

I have a DVD player - and I have tons of movies, cartoons, and some old shows from the good old days that I can resort to. And that is my choice. Just like it is your choice to watch what you want when you want.

When TV's started getting more channels, there were some smutty channels and the men in my neighborhood would practially kill themselves to get on the roof to adjust those huge antennas that would spin - just to get these channels in. I'm glad my dad had morals. Then cable came around and HBO was the "racy" channel. Now - you can't watch any station without some sort of something that is offensive to someone who is going to get a knot in their panties.

This chat forum is for us to share and to be ourselves.

So Janie mentions Woods - I mention some too - and some of you agree with us and some don't. Why did it have to escalate to something so damn stupid?

I was mature enough to read these posts with an open mind - and I found NOTHING offensive and nothing geared to hurt anyone - they were opinions. This is Life 101. Everyone has their opinions and no one was out to hurt or destroy anyone else.

Not one post said that (name of member) is a (whatever) or anything else.

Closed minds? Narrow minds? Open YOUR mind. Accept others for who and what they are. We live in a free country (at least for now until the czars take over and end it for us) and we speak freely. Our chat forum here is not here to hurt anyone - and no one had any intention of hurting anyone.

And I shouldn't be here explaining that to a bunch of adults.

Stop acting like you have been living your whole like in a shell cooped up and away from society - you haven't. We have all experienced the pains of life and we have all interpreted things OUR way and not always the way others meant to say it.

Now - with that said - I am putting you all back in the playpen again.

Play nice!

Even families have their spats - this was not a spat - it was not a fight - it was NOTHING!

SO DON'T TRY TO MAKE IT SOMETHING - or Mama will beat your butts with a wet noodle!

I appreciate & respect every word you offer, mama.

I was offended by one line within a longer post within the thread you mention- it was the line about "the homosexual agenda".

I think ( I may be incorrect) that is what others were offended by as well.

The line was there- and it meant only one thing- there's no confusing that. It was inappropriate.

Sure it was a personal opinion- and we're all free to believe as we wish- and we all enjoy the same freedom of speech. But we all also are bound by the rules of being good neighbors to control ourselves, play nicely with others, and not speak whatever enters our minds without careful consideration- especially if the thoughts are controversial and have a history of being offensive or divisive or hurtful.

I offered more at a thread I just submitted a moment ago. Anyone interested can check that out, if they wish.

And other than that, it's all water off my back and I have nothing further to add.

Please don't take that line as a personal attack. I know it was not meant to be that at all.

It's over - it's a done deal.

May we continue to be Mama's Family instead of the Hatfield's and the Mccoy's!
 
Personally, I just skipped over that particular line in that post. I've heard that line spouted many times by some folks and it's just a political bogeyman with no substance. My only comment was one needs to be selective in what they watch. Mama, it might be more civilized to be the Cleavers than Mama's family. hehehe
 
The Cleavers??? Hey - all those programs were GOOOOOOOD programs!

I don't even know what's going on. Or what the play pen is.

Just wanted to state, I've got no issues with anyone here.

if something "erupts" with our family - I do the scolding - after all I am Mama - and using the term "playpen" was in no way to offend anyone here - I just want everyone to get along - we have a fabulous group here - everyone is unique and everyone is special. I respect everyone here, and I hope everyone here just respects others as much.

You may also hear of us talking about "the button" - that is when I have to ban the spammers.
 
Anytime your a member of an online community and you want to keep the peace you have to consider how your posts may make others feel.
Everyone is entitled to feel as they like but personal opinions on hot button topics should be refrainded from to keep the peace.

It is the same in life and the same here. There are some people in my life I have to avoid some topics altogether on just to keep the peace.
I know my opinion and respect theirs so I avoid certain topics.

Speaking of which- tonight Mom and I wrapped presents and stayed too busy to cook, so supper was PB&J's with sour-grape jelly w/ a tall glass of milk, while watching "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas"! I tied the bows while Mom's finger held the ribbon in place... She taped, while I folded... :)
 
Kev - it's a beautiful memory!

I always said - no matter what happens - put a smile on your face - make them all wonder just what the h.e.l.l you've been up to!
