When I was just a little boy back in the late 60's my folks listened to lotsa "cool" music. I particularly loved this song! I remember the album cover was red and showed a close-up of a huge, colorful, sweet-looking all-day sucker! Click and give it a listen (I hope this works!) Do any of you recall this song at all by Millie Small? It's a very obscure tune and sure brings back memories for me- makes me smile HUGE! :)

"My Boy Lollipop" is a wonderful tune, so upbeat and happy!!!! I love all such songs from the 60's and 70's, do you remember "Sugar" by the Archie's I loved that tune, and I loved all the Herman's Hermit hits "Henry the 8th" and all their happy tunes! Music from the era was splendid! I was never a fan of heavy or Acid Rock and that whole "Jimi Handrix" type music. It was not enjoyable to me as it was to some. I only in the last 10 yrs or so came to appreciate "Janis Joplin" and enjoy her talent!

I know what'cha mean, Cath. I've never been a fan of loud guitars or acid rock and the like. I enjoy a hugely diverse mix though, from some country to folk, R&B, vintage jazz, Latin/world sounds, etc.

Mostly I just like VOICES. To me, if the voice is appealingly pleasant- or even unique- I love it! For instancem today I've listend to Dolly/Reba/Patsy Cline to Tracy Chapman and Sarah Vaughn, to David Archuletta, Anita Baker, Oleta Adams, Peter/Paul/Mary, Cher, and Daughtry.

Hee! Hee!....and I was leaving Vietnam after almost 3 tours of duty, changed from a boy to a man in the process.

I love all the early 60's music and unfortunately got the nickname "The Beatle" because I resembled Paul and the girl's at the USO said "if we can't get the real thing....." and they chased me, etc.

One of my favorites is "Running Bear" (actually 1959):

CanMan those indeed were the days of the very best tunes!!! I shall never forget those songs, and even my children love them! My oldest is 33 today :)

Hey CanMan I saw a town named Canmore in a book I was reading and it made me think of you! I was thinking if you ever get a dog you could name him Canmore!!!

Ah yes, "Hero Jr", my 5-year-old personality robot. He's been sleeping for a few years since his batteries died.

Poor Hero Jr. may he rest in peace. I think it's time for you to get another...and you will just have to name him "CanMutt" and teach him many great oldies and he can sing and entertain!:) NOW THAT'D BE ONE HECK OF A PET!!! I could just imagine him belting out "Running Bear"! I wonder if you could build him where he could rock back & forth as he sings?

My granddaughter had a pet cat robot she got when she was about 2yrs old. He was neat, but she was scarred to death of it! She did not like the robot the hospital had either....we were walking down the hall one day and it rolled past us (to be honest it was kind of an eerie feeling it was quite and said not a word as it went by) only later did we hear it speak and it said it's name was "Rosie". That went over like a nightmare with her, she was terrified by the chance meeting with "Rosie". For some reason I think pet robots would not be a big draw for little ones!
