I was on my way back from the store and town is crazy busy today. Something flew from under the car in front of me and I couldnt avoid it.
SOOO it busted what looks to be my oil pan under my car. I am officially without a car now. I was able to get it home. It happed just right up the road from here but the parking lot is a pool of oil.

I just couldnt avoid it. I couldnt get over into the next lane and couldnt stop before I hit it.

I was looking online
It was the alternator cover from the car in front of me that I hit.

I appreciate the sympathy lol.
Jon's Dad looked at it and it is the transmission fluid pan.
It is not a bad job to repair. Just expesive..still way better that if it had been the oil pan.
Can you guys see it. After this I stay 10 car lengths behind people and drive 10 miles an hour watching for debri.

Oh bless your heart, what a freak thing to have happen! I can imagine you freaked out!

Yeah 10 mph and 3 cars lenght back is most def gonna help LOL, help you have a whole tassel full of cars that come up behind you ****ed off!!! Talk about some bad f#@@*&^% language that will produce.:D

My car is a salvage title. It had been rebuilt after a previous owner had wrecked it and the insurance paid it off. I got it for $1500.00 about 4 years ago. It is a 97 pontiac grand am. It runs really good but I only keep liability insurance on it. That model of car sits really low to the ground and they have a aluminun oil pan so I was sure that was what had gotten punctured. The transmission fluid was really dirty and even Jon's friend who works on cars thought it was oil so I didnt feel so stupid for thinking that was what it was. We had a heavy storm last night which washed most of it off the parking lot thankfully. Unless Jon's Dad and brother can fix it in the parking lot it will have to be towed where ever they get it repaired at.

I was sure it was finished off. Transmission pan was actually good news lol.

Hey it may have been a blessing in disguise>>>sounds like the tran. fluid needed changing anyway, while your FIL is replacing the pan
have him replace the transmission fluid filter as well, that way you'll be starting out with new fluid, filter, gasket, and pan! Probably needed it really bad!

That is exactly what Jon said Cathy.
Our friend took us to pay bills this morning and I went by the store. Got a gerorgeous oregano plant and a sweet basil plant for the balcony. My others I started from seeds are just not growing well at there at all.

We were leaving this morning with a friend and one of my neighbors hollars at me and says your car had leaked out all of its oil. I said yeah I know. Its transmission fuid. I hit something and it punched my transmission fluid pan. He goes well I didnt want you to start it and leave with it like that. I thanked him. I told Jon that guy must think Im pretty visually impaired myself if he thought I would miss that pool of fluid lol. My car was sitting in a ugly pool of yuck.
We got another big storm today and I took a bottle of dishliquid and squirted it all around my car and on the parking lot. It really helped wash away more.

It's really hard to change a tranny pan on a car so low to the ground. Even with jacking it into the air and putting supports under it. Most Transmission repair centers have free towing around here. I hope the same is for you there.
Lol, did you get the license plate number for that starter that hit you?

None of the places here have free towing. Jon's brother and Dad will probably just pull it to the garage with his brothers truck. I dont want them trying to jack it up and fix it. That is just not safe.

FIL came up today and took off the old pan. He and Jon had to have it to match the bolt pattern for the new one. That is a part you cannot even get at the parts store you have to get it straight from the vehicle manufacturer. Luckily a junk yard about 2 miles from here had one they were able to get for $25. The garage where Jon's brother works is gonna fix it tomorrow. The wrecker just left with it towing it to the shop.

My FIL is so good to us both. He has paid for this whole thing. He took off that old pan in a cold rain. I hope he doesnt get sick.
I can just hear the jokes probably going on about women drivers when Im not around.

I'm back on the road. They were able to get my car in before closing.
lol They accidently locked my keys inside and had to come get another one.

lol Yeah it was the guy who owns the place that locked the keys in the car.
It was funny when the tow truck came I had to get change for $100 to pay him. I didnt have it so I went in the office downstairs to see if they did. They said they didnt but to try and catch the landlord who was just pulling out. SOoo I dash out the door and the landlord waves but keeps leaving lol. He thought I was waving bye. I got him to stop and thankfully he had change. I had told the girl who works in his office what happend the day before when I paid the rent and she had told him. He was very sympathetic about my accident. He is so much easier to deal with now that his partner retired.

Yes my taxi is back in business lol.

They left the dip stick for my transmission fluid laying under the hood. They didnt put it back where it went. I checked the fluid in it this morning and found it. It is just luck I didnt loose it on the road. Jon's brother was the one who fixed the thing lol.
