Oh yeah, I can't hardly wait to see it. When something like this happens, the road around here turn into scenes from the dukes of hazard mixed with cannonball run
Yeah!!! Snow I can hardly wait. In our neck of the woods they sell out of milk and bread, and the roads shut down and it's such overkill it is just way too ridiculous!!!
The very last Christmas I spent down south near Mobile, Alabama it snowed and it was the first time in 100 years it actually snowed on Christmas day! Well it was a real treat, and I felt very lucky to have been there for the once every 100 year Christmas Snow Shower!
we've had our first taste of lake effect already - now something is beating against the hose and it's windier than crap - they say a BIG one is coming tonight - time to "panic buy" (all I need is milk) - but moron's who never shop run out and buy all sorts of foods in a big panic - and they act like its the end of the world!
Hey. Its even predicted here in north central Louisiana. We've had it before and all the Cajuns just run around trying to see if they can make gumbo out of it.
the panic buyers act like they are going to die and it is the end of the world - it' a snatch and grab thing - they don't eat it - they don't cook with it - but they hoard it and then when it's out of date they donate to the food bank!
the rich old folk kill me most - they have money and don't want to part with it - so they buy cat food because it's cheaper than tuna - and they holler out loud that they are old and cannot afford to feed theselves? what do they do the other 360+ days a year? oh yeah - I forget - they can eat at the country clubs they belong to (yes I said clubs - you cannot belong to just one)
they live in big homes and have maids and gardeners, they drive expensive cars, and as soon as a storm is coming - they all of a sudden want sympathy - what do they expect - the not-so-fortunate to buy for their food? now I am talking about people that do not keep food in their homes because they travel a lot and dine at fancy restaurants - one family in particular - they have the biggest meals for the holiday - all cooked by their private cook - they want so much food cooked for so few of them - all show - then when they are done - the cook has to throw it all out - it's not allowed in the house
let them stock up on cat food - who cares
I remember working with a rich kid - never had to do a thing in his life, maids, butlers, tutors, you name it - his father wanted him to go to work to see what it was like - he lasted one month - only because his father paid him big bucks to stick it out
didn't fit in with anyone there - if we ordered subs for lunch - he'd turn green - never had one in his life - never went to a fast food restaurant - it was "beneath" him
for holidays they would have huge spreads of foods and desserts - eat just a bit - the rest was put in the trash - no leftovers - they would never hear of that - not even a pie or cake or cookie - if it was made that day - they ate it - then it went out
they would only dine at the finest restaurants and country clubs -
Same thing here ...milk, bread and eggs sell out when they give snow. It is like people think they can survive anything with those three items. It has been cold as heck the past three days. It has been around 30 during the day and 25 or so at night and it rained for two days. Miserable days to have to even go outside.
We had moved to floria for 10 yrs and just last year moved back up north because of family and we missed the snow so much . My 8 yr old had never seen snow till we moved back to NY he was born in Florida . I`ll never forget the sparkle in his eyes the first time he saw snow coming down .
snow is beautiful - having you house buried and having to wait for plows and trucks to try to find your home is not beautiful - having your house totally encased in 2 inches of ice and having to wait for someone to chisel you out is not beautiful - getting 14 feet of snow in 24 hours is not beautiful
losing heat, electricity, water, phone, cable, and being buried for a week is not beautiful
there is only so much you can take - driving on 18 inches of solid ice doesn't bother me - but we have had our share of snow hell and I just don't want to see it this year
pretty fluffy white flakes are beautiful - the storms and the lake effect are no fun
I know how that feels Mama ... In florida with the huricains...TREES down...telephone poles down..wires everywhere.. We were stuck in our house for 14 days with no electric...that meant nooooo cooking because we only had electric.. we lived on cold canned soup and crackers and tortillaw/cheese dip .. no way of using our grill because I had to have the good old fashion kind you use wood with but it rained the 14 days ...no garbage truck to pick up our garbage so we had the smell outside our house from all the frozen meat that all had to be thrown out . .. it was over 105 degreeze and no A/C no TV..No radio .. Roof leaks that poured in cause we were not prepared with any tarps to cover the roofs with ...BUT We did take showers under the rain with a bar of soap ! To flush our toilets we had to carry buckets of water from our pool but were thankful that we did have the pool for the water ! LOL That was the year we moved down there so the following year we got smart and bought a generator which is still in its box because we never had to use it again LOL
we also built an outdoor kitchen w/a nice big gas grill plus charcoal grill ) wasn`t going to be left with no food for the family ever again . Now we look at the pics and it reminds os of the little things we should be thankful for .
