Retro Easter Candy

I went and checked out the 1950's box, although all the candy I remember is there, my Easter Baskets looked nothing at all like that, My Mom made up the most wonderful Easter baskets in the whole world!!! I carry on the tradition, I absolutely love putting together Easter Baskets, and coloring Easter Eggs, mine are very colorful and fun to dye!

Mom's Easter Baskets always featured a Large Chocolate Bunny, small foil wrapped goodies, malted milk balls that looked like Robin eggs, peeps, choc. covered marshmallow eggs and jelly beans. We always got new matching dresses and hats to wear to Mass, the 4 Kennedy girls always looked drop dead adorible, and my Mom handmade our dresses!!!

Sounds like my Mom, too Cath! I love Easter! Not only do I love all the church tradition stuff- but also the feasting and especially the Easter baskets of goodies like you describe! Let's not forget JELLY BEANS!

I looked at them too and while I love bit o honey and chick o sticks those things never made it into my Easter basket. My mom made awesome baskets for us. It would usually have a big molded chocolate easter basket in the middle of our basket which would be filled with candy and then around that there would be all sorts of Russel stover eggs. ones filled whipped cherry cream, maple cream, coconut creme etc. She also got a lot of molded chocolate bunnies and things. Then there were the peeps and last but not least jelly beans. I'm an odd bird I always liked the black ones. Then there would be a stuffed bunny or some other toy with it. We also got new fancy dresses and shoes each easter. I always loved getting dressed up in the beautiful outfits she would buy us. What nice memories.

Marshmallow chicks are excellent toasted over a campfire. If you have a bottle of Hersheys chocolate syrup handy your all set or you can go the way of the Smores.

my favorite Easter candy still to this day is the Russell Stover coconut birds nest with three jelly beans. I eat the jelly beans first, then the nest. A personal tradition!

Thanks, Chub, for the retro candy links. Neat!

:) I Love Easter & Easter candy. I Love chocolate marshmallow Bunny's my Favorite! We had a Big Easter Basket growing up. Chocolate cream eggs, solid chocolate eggs and Bunny's are Good to.

Now I make cut-out cookies and fudge. I sent out Easter cards and put together Easter Bags. I decorate some and buy Easter- candy! It's Fun! Cookie :)
