That happens to run right through the middle of this town.
Usually it is the first few days of August but this year it is the 31 of July and 1of August. Good freakin luck getting anywhere during that time
I went to the store and the bank today and these jerks sat througn the light twice so they could look from the road at yard sales going on each corner without parking their cars and walking to see
My cars AC is scheduled to be recharged tomorrow and it was only about 100 degrees her today. I'm glad Jon stayed home cause I could have made a sailor blush I was so mad.
A very good friend owns his own alternator repair place and he is gonna recharge my cars ac for me at no charge tomorrw ( I have the coolant) but I still am gonna have to make it though about three miles of prime yard sale territory to get to his garage. If I make it there without stopping to kill some jerk who perfers to coast along so they can look see from their air conditioned car  instead of parking and walking.
It is supposed to be another scorcher tomorrow with high humidity.

Janie aren't you glad it is only for a few days!!!

I know how you feel, I used to live where they held Mardi Gras parades and activities for weeks on end and would blocks of entire roads would be shut down and baracaded off, it would create havock for that period of time from sometime in late Jan. early Feb. until Ash Wednesday!!!I truly hated it! You know they even dismissed school on Fat Tues. for that "crap-ola"! Mardi-Gras is an excuse for people to act like sicko's and all kinds of mayhem and madness are common.

Yes I am glad it is only for a few days. A lot of people get paid on the first
I can imagine they had a nightmare trying to get around today and tomorrow.
All I have planned tomorrow is getting my AC fixed and taking Jon's Dad the pot of beef stew I made him today.

I would have been afraid to go outside during some of the Mardi Gras stuff I have seen on tv  I bet it was a pain in the tush!

Dang, this messy stuff is enuf to make someone wanna go POSTAL! :) Good Lord! Don't know if I could handle a town-full of whacko, gawking strangers who come just to lurk, poke around and intrude...

Only traffic trouble we have in my neck o'the woods is the occasional 80 yr. old slow tractor driver... winks- k.

Hey Kevin>

When I lived down in South Alabama we had so-o-o many farmers on tractors, that is really a different and kind of pleasant experience though, they would look back often to see if anyone was coming then pull off to the shoulder of the road and let you by. There was always a smile and a wave and it was nothing at all, just a pleasant passing experience. Worst thing that might happen is when one of them was spittin' his tobacco juice and didn't see you coming!:D We had a bus driver down there that chewed tobacco, he'd spit it out the window, so us smarter and older kids knew not to sit on the drivers side of the bus!!! He also had a son who lost an arm in a farming accident, so he had a artificial hand with a hook on the end, he used to love to pinch us girls with that hook:D He was a sweetheart and did it in a fun and friendly way, not to hurt or be mean, we used to giggle and laugh. Many boys helped their Dad's on the farms and would get hurt:(

That dang yard sale was so busy today it took me 25 minutes to get past about 6 houses  I was trying to get to the place to get my car ac recharged. GOT out there and his son had the piece of equipment to do that with in his truck and he cannot do it til Mon. lol Came home and went to the store and picked up a chicken. Got home and checked it and of course it was bad so I had to go back out in the mess. It had been one of those days people

They are only supposed to have it yesterday and today. Im sure since it is the weekend it will be going on tomorrow to.

Poor Baby!!!

Oh now you tell me!!!:D I could have come to the Yard Sale from Hell and then stopped by and had desert with you> LOL

Of-course then my 9yr old. would not have her school supplies and new clothes for her 1st day back to school Monday!!! Her excuse "Ma went Yard Sailing all weekend!!!!"

You have more patience than me Hon if you could have stood that mess and the heat.
It was about 96 here today with high humidity. I glanced at some sales while I waiting and all they looked like were old clothes, ceramic do dads and plastic kids toys.
I'm gonna try freezing half of this cheescake for later. I'll post a pic of it after I get it made if it is presentable.

Jon's Dads electric went out and he doesnt know how to reprogram the tv when that happens so we ended up going down there late this evening. I think the cucs are pretty much done. I have just gotten 3 -4 the past two times I went down.
Got some herbs, peppers, beets and tomatoes. Took the neighbor lady some veggies when I got back.

What grade does you little girl start?
My nieces school starts Tues and the schools here in town start the 12th.

RE: "Many boys helped their Dad's on the farms and would get hurt"

Yeah- I tell ya Cath, there are some real sad farm horror stories out there. My Dad retired from driving a truck for Caterpillar for 32 years. Afterwards he drove truck part-time during harvest season for local farmers. He knew a teenaged boy who was atop a high empty grain elevator doing some sort of maintanence and he fell from the top- hit bottom. Death came instantly. Another guy was at a grain elevator w/ a double-wagon of corn unloading it through a bottom-auger into a ground vault beneath the wagon. Corn got clogged and hung-up somehow so he climbed high atop the FULL wagon of corn w/ a long pole which he crammed down deep to try and unclog the auger and get the corn flowing out the bottom again. Suddenly he lost his balance and SUNK deep into the corn and literally drowned. Took 20 men to lean against, push and tip the wagon over to fish him out. Didn't make it in time. Very sad... Farm life has always been hard.

This is that cheesecake recipe I made tonight.
I had to make a few changes to go with what I could find.
I had to go with graham crackers for the crust. Couldnt find chocolate wafers. I got mini semi sweet chocolate chips and whip cream to garnish with tomorrow when it cools down.

Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake

Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups chocolate wafer crumbs (about 27 wafers)
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
FILLING:
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
3 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup baking cocoa
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
TOPPING:
1-1/2 cups (9 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Whipped cream and miniature chocolate kisses, optional

Directions:
In a small bowl, combine wafer crumbs and sugar; stir in butter. Press onto the bottom and 1-1/2 in up the sides of a greased 9-in. springform pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Reduce heat to 325°.
For filling, melt chocolate chips in a small heavy saucepan or microwave; stir until smooth. Remove from the heat; add cream and mix well. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add cocoa and beat well. Add eggs; beat on low just until combined. Stir in vanilla and reserved chocolate mixture just until blended. Pour over crust. Return pan to baking sheet.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until center is almost set. For topping, melt chocolate chips in a heavy saucepan or microwave, stir until smooth. Stir in cream and vanilla; mix well. Spread over filling. Cool pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer. Refrigerate overnight.
Remove sides of pan. Just before serving, garnish with whipped cream and miniature chocolate kisses if desired. Refrigerate leftovers. Yield: 12 servings.

RE: "Many boys helped their Dad's on the farms and would get hurt"
Yeah Kevin I always try and give thanks for those who grow and harvest our bounty God Bless them they are up against some horrible odds some times, mostly bad weather and drought! I so appreciate the ones who are brave enough to continue in the farming business against all odds!!!... Farm life has always been hard.

We are so fortunate they have never given up!

Well I made the cheesecake and it came out really good. It wasnt as pretty as I liked with the graham cracker crust instead of the chocolate wafers but the taste was fantastic. Jon even liked it. I took my neighbor two pieces of it topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with some mini chocolate chips. It was funny.. I knocked on her door and asked her if she liked cheesecake and she goes uhhh am I breathing lol. She likes chocolate cheesecake.

That is so cool Janie>>>Darn how I wish I was your neighbor!!!;)

I wish you were too!

Got my ac recharged in my old car today. Our friend used his coolant and did the job for free. He has a killer homemade lunch coming his way very soon.
I got a good deal at the farmers market. One vendor had yukon gold taters for .50 a pound. I got five pounds and a doxen ears of corn for me and one dozen for my FIL.

Ugh!
My freshly recharged car ac leaked out and is dead again. The guy who charged it said he and his son would put it up on the rack in a a few days and chase down the leak. He thinks it is a some sort of hose valve or something. I got in the car today to take him lunch for fixing my AC for free and it was dead again lol. What luck huh?

My brother's BD is Sat. He is coming by tomorrow to pick up the BD dinner he requested.
He wanted a roasted chicken, pinto beans, cornbread, fried potatoes with turnip and onion in them, green and birthday cake. He also wants onions and cucs in vinegar. Strange dinner lol.
