So simple and easy to make, this is one of my family's favourite breakfast treats!
Ingredients:
2 C all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
4 tbls. shortening
2/3 C milk
1 lb. pork sausage - like Jimmie Dean or Jones
Directions:
Heat oven to 400 degrees after sausage rolls are chilled
Combine all ingredients except sausage and make biscuit dough. Divide dough into 2 parts and roll out each part on lightly floured surface to rectangle, 1/4-inch thickness. Spread dough with sausage, leaving 1/2-inch on all four sides of each piece. Roll each piece of sausage-covered dough as for a jelly roll, beginning on short side. Wrap rolls in waxed paper and chill overnight. Slice each roll to 1/2-inch thickness and place slices on baking sheet. Bake slices for 10 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
