How many of you are getting the snow storm?
We are supposed to get 8-10 inches total. My sis is supposed to get lots more than that. Jon and I made a mad dash down to the store right before it started and got a few things and some flashlight batteries.
I dont' even want to think about snow right now - I shoveled yesterday - I still have a big pile from that big storm - that will be here till July - and I don't want to shovel anymore -
Except for a week in the deep-freeze with temps at ZERO last week, so far the serious storminess has gone completely around us here in central Illinois. Currently it's snowing very lightly, but less than an inch is expected. And that's just how I hope it stays!
One year when we were finally allowed to drive on the roads - we had to drive all the way to PA to get food! That is the year we had no power, heat, water, phones for over a week!
Everything that was refrigerated and frozen before the storm had to be tossed. I had freezers and a 500 lb. chest freezer loaded! FEMA came to town - never did a thing for us - they said if you want a hot meal - call the Red Cross. And I had just stocked the freezers for the winter months 2 days before the storm hit.
Isnt it funny how people think they can survive anything with milk, bread and eggs in the fridge. It is the same way here.
We got about 4 inches of snow last night. My mother in law postponed her holiday dinner til Sun instead of Sat. We are supposed to get 2 more inches tonight but it is 32 degress so I dont think it is gonna stick. Tons of people are without electric.
Im going to have to get over to SAMS tomorrow and get a few last things I need for the holiday dinners.
I quess I'd better not complain about our mounting snow drifts here in northern Louisiana. We did actually have snow the first part of December but with temps in the high 30's nothing was sticking but on the car hoods.
I went to Walmart Friday evening before the storm started to get boots for my daughter and cereal. People were so rude! People were nicer on Black Friday than they were on pre-snow Friday.
I'm going stir crazy. Haven't left the house since Friday evening.
