This is a dear old Irish recipe passed down through my family for many years.
If you sit quietly while you read it, you can listen to your arteries snapping shut at the very idea of eating this!!
Toad In The Hole
Ingredients:
4 slices of crisp bacon - drained
1 lb. link sausage, cut in 1/2 inch pieces
2 C Flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3 C milk
6 eggs
2 tsp. salt.
Directions:
Set aside two tbls. of bacon drippings; crumble bacon and set aside. Brown sausage - drain and set aside. Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add milk and eggs; beat 'til smooth. Spread bacon drippings in baking dish; place sausage in dish and top with bacon. Pour in batter and bake at 400 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Great for breakfast.
