Ingredients:

1/4 C heavy whipping cream
1 tbls. butter
1/2 tsp. light corn syrup
4 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped
2 tbls. chocolate hazelnut spread
1 pound white candy coating
5 to 6 drops blue food coloring
1/2 to 1 tsp. instant coffee grandles
Flaked coconut, toasted, optional

Directions:

In a suacepan, bring the cream, butter and corn syrup to a boil. Add chocolate and remove from the heat (do not stir). Let stand for 5 minutes. Whisk in hazelnut spread until combined. Transfer to a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 45 to 60 minutes or until thickened, stirring every 15 minutes.

Shape 1 heaping tsp. full of chocolate mixture into an egg shape. Place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining mixture. Refregerate until firm, about 5 to 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a microwave-safe bowl, melt candy coating, stir until smooth. Stir in food coloring. Dip eggs into candy coating, allow excess to drip off. Return to baking sheet and immediately sprinkle with coffee granules. Let stand until set. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Serve eggs on a nest of coconut if desired. These are fun and attractive! :):)

Dilbert - I cater for a living - have my own company. Over a period of numerous years, I've compiled a collection of ringbinder "scrapbook-style" books in which I keep all the recipes I've used in my business and personal cooking. Several years ago, I encountered the recipe for those candy eggs and made and enjoyed them with my family. Then, unfortunately, lost the recipe along the way. Subsequently, I recently encountered that same recipe once again and jotted it down, putting it into the ringbinder to keep.
And yes, when I saw it again, it was in Taste of Home. Most of the recipes I've posted on Spice Place have come directly from my collection - all recipes I have cooked, myself, and like a lot. I've never posted a recipe that I've not cooked, myself. But at no time have I ever implied that any recipe I've posted was one that I made up on my own. Are you so naive that you truly believe that all the hundreds of recipe posted on Spice Place over the years have come directly off the top of someone's head? I hardly think so! I get my recipes from cookbooks, magazines and some few online and I rarely could recall from where they came - I just happened to remember where the candy egg recipe originated. Have you ever noticed that all such recipes have a facility incorporated into them allowing one to "Print" them? Why would that be available if not to be used to copy and share the recipe? Now then, if I were to attempt to publish a cookbook of "personal" recipes to sell for my own profit and claimed that the inclusions were all "mine" - that would be illegal! To the max!! However, sharing recipes with others at Spice Place or anywhere else has not struck me as being, in any way, dishonest. If I'm wrong about that, I'd like to hear from someone besides yourself to that effect! And I've never posted "a hundred recipes per day" at any time. I do post a total of perhaps four or five at a time - mainly because there has been a discreet inference that I wasn't "participating properly" on the forum and I hoped to correct that impression. If all of this makes you somehow uncomfortable I'm certainly open to changing what I do - as long as I hear it from someone in authority, telling me that I'm in the wrong. As to using recipes from my ringbinder collection, most of those I couldn't remember where they originally came from if my life depended on it - from cookbooks, magazines, online or even my grandmother's old cookbook. Only once on this forum have I ever happened to notice anyone giving credit to another author for a recipe - nobody is selling recipes on this forum, especially me! To do so would be quite illegal and nobody's doing anything like that. Everyone has the same opportunity to post as many recipes as they wish to - I don't believe that I'm in any way taking up anyone else's space!

Just as a matter of curiosity, how in the world could one post a recipe with a list of ingredients and corresponding instructions for preparation without writing a recipe "word for word" when copying it out? I don't believe that's possible!

a lawyer of your choice can tell you about copyright laws.

cut&paste republication of copyrighted material is a violation of that copyright.

since you asked,
a list of ingredients cannot be copyrighted.
the descriptions and directions are copyrighted.
compilations of recipes can be copyrighted.
printing stuff out for your own use is not a copyright violation.
republishing - which is what you have done - with or without profit motive - is a copyright violation.
merely providing an 'attribute' - i.e. copied from x,y,z - does not 'legalize' your practice.
you need permission from the author/copyright holder.
there is a copyright provision for "fair use" - snippets of copyrighted material necessary to convey your impressions/opinions. verbatim copying of the entire material is not 'fair use.'

Dilbert - Thank you so much for your assistance in my "retraining" in the matter of sharing recipes with others. You must be the "lawyer of your own choice" - so perhaps you can explain why nearly every recipe published for public consumption has not only a facility to make it possible to "print" the recipe but, as well, enables one to "share" by the push of a computer button as well. Please do educate me about that, too. Thank you. If I'm looking for confirmation from someone with a "little authority" you seem to have about as little as anyone.......and a major burr beneath your saddle towards me. Why? What did I ever do to you? Enlighten me further, please! But before you do, I should tell you that I was employed by BH&G for a number of years and am fairly well conversant in the matter of what is and is not allowable. Granted, my employment was over 30 years ago and I'm sure that there are new and improved considerations today that didn't exist then, but nevertheless, I still don't believe that sharing a recipe with others is something to get so bent out of shape about, especially if the originator of the recipe invites one to do so!! Furthermore, I absolutely do not consider that "sharing a recipe" on a forum is tatamount to "republishing" in any form!!
Where is the publication? Is there a corresponding magazine or newsletter that accompanies the forum? No? Okay, do tell.

I'm not going to debate this issue.
