This is the perfect place to vent- amongst dear friends who always understand and don't let us take things TOO seriosuly when stuff gets heavy...
I may have mentioned that my niece- who plays college softball, suffered a broken nose and cheekbone a couple weeks back when her face collided w/ a ball at a tournament in Florida. BAD. But after corrective surgery- plus plastic surgery, she's recovering nicely. The pain is all but gone, and she's back in class. And the school's coaching staff has acknowledged their wrong doing in staying in denial-mode and pushing her to "stay tough and play through the pain" before they realized the extent of her injuries.
What next?
My elderly Dad and his 3rd wife of 4-1/2 years seemed to have a good thing going. My Dad is a tough, crothchedy old bird, but Dolores never let on that she was becoming unhappy and feeling used and under-appreciated by Dad. Well, she left him last week. She cites his just being too difficult to please and live with. Hell- I knew that! But I thought she was just a glutton for punishment. Hell- they ordered a granite tombstone w/ both their names and birthdates on it just last month, for Khrissakes! Anyway, Dad is in poor health- he is deaf, is on oxygen 24/7 and has doctor appt's all the time. He's very dependent and needy. Dolores was a SAINT because she was quite the care-giver. Now on top of playing a lage role w/ my Mom and her medical needs and mental situation- having moved her closer to me- I may now likely have to step-up and be there much more for Dad too- who lives an hour away. Ugh! I love him and of course I'll be there for him, but DAMN.
Lastly? Have I told you guys before about my troublesome brother who's totally dysfunctional and in and out of jail? Well, after being released from Iowa State Correctional Facility 18 months ago, he was locked up again in April of last year on three charges including 3rd degree kidnapping and something sexual related. He don't tell us anything, but it looks like he forced some woman somewhere tried to force her to have sex, then held her against her will- or some such. Well, he was gonna get 60years for this IF he went to trial, BUT he pled guilty to avoid trial and for a lesser sentence and we've been waiting for him to go before a judge to find out exactly how long his reduced sentence will be- and where he'll be serving it. We've been told to expect 20-35 years. Well, my Dad, sister and I are all signed-up to receive e-mail notification when his jail status changes and we all on Wednesday received e-mail notifications that Craig has been RELEASED. No explanation- no further info. We don't know if "released" means he's no longer at the holding facility and has been sentenced and relocated to a prison- or if it means he's been totally turned loose and is free and on the street. UGH! Last time he was released Dad and Dolores had to get a protective order against him. He's that bad.
Anyway- sorry to burden with this mess. It just helps to type it all out and VENT. Thanks all!
