What dish do you make better?

Everyone I know has that one thing they think they make better than anyone else. What is yours?

Now for me I only have one item I feel that way about. I love french bread and I really love making it myself. I like infusing the olive oil for the recipe with garlic and using it in the bread and I also add a roasted head of galic to my dough. I add wheat gluten and let my bread machine do all of the kneading for me. It is my favorite thing to eat toasted with tomatoes, basil and olive oil especially during the summer time. It makes wonderful croutons for soups and salads. I like my homemade french bread better than any I have ever tried any where.

Well if there is only ONE thing I can honestly say I make better than anyone else's anywhere I have ever tasted ~~~ >)))°> ~~~ I would have to say it is my dried beans! NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can make dry beans that taste anywhere near as delicious as mine! But hey I have been cooking and eating dry beans since I was a youngin':D

I let mine soak either the conventional overnight method or the quickie 1 hour method. Then I begin adding my seasoning and let them cook until tender and soooo tasty!

I have had people's eyes pop and jaws drop, give me a look of disbelief that I could cook anything so delicious tasting and then smile and start shoveling them in....when they first taste my beans and I mean that!

I also made a Lobster Thermador once that was just splendid and I doubt I will ever taste anything that darn wonderful ever again!

Well that's about all the bragging I can do on this subject;):D:eek:

I remember my Mom cooking dried beans.
French bread is the only thing I make that I think is better than any other french bread I have tried lol.

And I almost forgot I make the best Tamales I have ever had!!!! Hee-hee I never had any as good as mine, and I'm not Mexican and I never had anyone show me how to make them I just looked on-line how to make them and VIOLA!!! They are so good I can't quit eating them:p Most of the ones I have ever had at restaurants were dry and mine are not. Even after I freeze and thaw them and microwave them they are still just so-o-o good!

I always make the celebration cakes in my circle of family and friends. It's generally thought amongst us all that my cakes are the best within the group- but I can honestly say that I've tasted many cakes in my life, made by others, that were far better than even the best one I have made!

I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to food- and I think I'm a fine, fine cook- but I'll usually take something someone else has cooked over cooking myself, any day! Ha!

I agree with you Kevin on that point!!! BUT YOU REALLY need not be so humble> I without having ever eaten any of your food just know there has got to be many many things you cook better than anyone else!;)

Ah- that's sweet Cath. I guess I'm famous for my cheese-balls... I often share about them here- but they're such EZ "throw-together" thangs, I don't really even consider them cooking.

I also love having Alaskan barbecues when I have friends over. Love grilling salmon, halibut, spot prawns w/ chicken and beef outside. And a crab-pot steaming off to the side of the Weber too. And maybe wildberry shortcakes for dessert... YUM!

Stop teasing and post your recipe, Sis.

With the exception of an occasional can of chickpeas I also always do my beans from dried beans. The texture is totally superior to canned beans. I used to hate beans because I had only ever had beans from a can. Then I tried making them myself and now I can eat beans every day of the week. I can't get enough.

Well as far as what I do better than anyone else I would have to say that I am more adventurous with my cooking than anyone else I know. I'm known for the fact that when people come to my house they have absolutely no idea what to expect. I could be serving unicorn with sea beans but they come anyway because as they say they know whatever it is it's going to be good.

My friend Becky one time at a party I was having told one of the other guests that if I said I was making a dish with rubber tires she would still come because if anyone could make them tasty it would be me. Now that's a nice compliment.

I am so glad that there is someone else in this world that loves dry beans as much as I:)
