- 1 1/4 cups cake flour*
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups egg whites (12)
- 1 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
* 2 cups cake flour equals 4 tbsp cornstarch and 1 1/2 cups flour.
Ice Cream Frosting:
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 stick margarine
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tbsp hot water
- 1/2 egg white
- Sift together the cake flour and sugar. Set aside.
- Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, salt, vanilla, and almond extract to form peaks.
- Add 1 1/3 cups sugar. Beat to fold in sugar.
- Fold flour mixture and sugar mixture in with wire whip.
- Bake at 375° F for 40 minutes.
- Frost with Ice Cream Frosting.
Ice Cream Frosting:
- Mix all ingredients, adding egg white last and beat. Spread on cake.
