Recipe: Apple Dumplings

Ingredients in Apple Dumplings
- Pie dough for a 2-crust pie
- 6 to 8 medium apples, peeled and cored
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp butter
Sauce
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 to 2 tbsp red hot candies
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
To make Apple Dumplings
- Prepare pie dough and roll out a 7” diameter piece of dough for each dumpling.
- Place 1/2 apple (may be cut in cubes) in the center of each piece of dough.
- Generously sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and dot with butter.
- Wrap dough around apple securely and place in a large 9" x 13” baking pan.
- Pour hot sauce over dumplings and bake at 500° F for 7 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 350° F and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Makes approximately 8 apple dumplings.
To make sauce:
- Combine and boil 3 minutes; then pour around apples.
