Product Recipes
- 2 lbs navy pea beans
- pinch of baking soda
- 1/2 to 3/4 lb lean salt pork
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- molasses
- salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Soak beans overnight; sort and strain.
- Cook beans with pinch of baking soda for 20 to 25 minutes; drain.
- Add clean cold water to cover, salt pork and sugar and cook until beans are tender (3 1/2 to 4 hours).
- Put into bean pot or small pans.
- Pour molasses on top and bake 30 minutes.
Can be served hot or cold and freezes well.
