Buttermilk Biscuits Ingredients
- 1/2 tbsp yeast
- 5 cups flour
- 3 tsps baking powder
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 tbsps warm water
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tbsps sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
To make Buttermilk Biscuits
- Preheat oven to 400° F.
- Grease a baking sheet.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl & cut in shortening.
- Add buttermilk and dissolved yeast to flour mixture; stir until blended.
- Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a floured board.
- Cut rolled dough a floured biscuit cutter; place on greased baking sheet.
- Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes
