Preheat oven to 350°F. Boil the sugar, orange juice, nutmeg and butter together. Set aside. Makes syrup for about 2 lbs. potatoes. Boil the potatoes with their jackets on, until just barely tender. Peel potatoes, cut in half, unless they are small and can be left whole. Lay in a greased shallow baking pan in a single layer. Pour syrup over them and bake at 350°F, basting with the syrup regularly, until golden brown (30minutes-1 hour).
