Recipe: Caramel Bars

Caramel Bars Ingredients
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 tsp
salt
1 1/2 cups flour (sifted)
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp pure
vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped
pecans
(optional)
Topping
33 caramels
1/4 cup cream or half and half
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 325° F.
Mix all ingredients except nuts at lowest speed on electric mixer until well blended.
Stir in pecans, if desired.
Put into a 9 x 13 inch pan and bake at 325° F. for 20-25 minutes or until brown.
In a double boiler, melt caramels and add cream.
After melted, add butter and powdered sugar, mixing well.
Spread over cooled crust.
