Recipe: Chocolate Buttermilk Cake

- 2 cup sugar
- 2 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 sticks butter
- 4 tbsp Hershey's cocoa powder
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Sift together sugar, flour and soda.
- In a small saucepan, bring butter, cocoa, and water to a boil. Pour over dry ingredients.
- Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour into 17" x 11" x 3/4" cookie sheet.
- Bake 15 to 20 minutes.
Don't make frosting until cake is out of oven. Cake should be warm, not hot or cold.
Frosting
- 1 stick butter
- 4 tbsp Hershey's cocoa powder
- 6 tbsp buttermilk
- Box powdered sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Bring butter, cocoa powder, and buttermilk to a boil.
- Stir in powdered sugar, walnuts, and vanilla extract.
- When well blended and heated through, pour over the warm cake.
