1 egg
1/2 cup Hershey's Cocoa
1/2 cup melted shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour milk*
1/2 cup boiling water
1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cream together the egg, Hershey's Cocoa, shortening, and sugar.
3. Stir in the sour milk and boiling water.
4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Then, adding a little at a time, mix flour mix with creamed cocoa and sugar.
5. Stir in pure vanilla extract, and mix well.
6. Grease a loaf pan and coat with Hershey's cocoa.
7. Pour batter into pan, and bake 40-45 minutes.**
8. Remove from pans, and allow to cool.
9. Frost with a Mocha Frosting.
*To make sour milk, add 1/2 tsp vinegar to milk and stir.
** Since oven temperatures vary the actual cooking time may be different.
