Recipe: Cinnamon Topped Nut Bread

- 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup oats, uncooked
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup melted shortening
To Make Cinnamon Topped Nut Bread
- Preheat oven to 350° F..
- Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Stir in oats and nuts.
- Add milk, eggs and shortening; stirring only until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Pour batter into greased 8 1/2 X 4 1/2 X 2 1/2 inch loaf pan.
- Sprinkle with topping made by combining the following ingredients:
Topping for Cinnamon Topped Nut Bread
- 2 tbsps sugar
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsps melted butter or margarine
- Bake 55 to 60 minutes.
- Remove from pan immediately; cool.
- Wrap cooled bread and store 1 day for ease in slicing.
