Seven Degrees This Morning

I figured you had lived there always. You seem very adapted to the snow.
I couldnt take it lol. It has been 48 here for a few days now. Supposed to be that way for a couple more.
It feels like a heatwave compared to what we have had.
 
believe it or not - we are having a bit of a thaw - sounds good with temps getting into the 30's - but as all this begins to melt and the temps begin to drop again - not a good thing - snow storms are one thing - ice storms are another

we are famous for those late January blizzards that paralyze everyone - I don't get excited about these little thaws that come around occasionally - I'm afraid of what is following it

I'm with ya, mama! Some of the worst winter storms here in Illinois I can remember came Easter weekend! We ain't outta the woods here until long 'bout late-March/early-April. Until then? ANYTHING can happen!
 
here it always snows for the St. Paddy's Day Parade - that is a definite - after that we can start to think spring - sometimes....
 
well just as I expected - the temps are dropping now that we have this "thaw" and they say "the big one" should be here soon - I just wish it was June!

BTW - back in the early 70's - we were still wearing our winter coats and freezing our butts off the second week of June
 
it's really eerie out there - I took the "babies" to McD's for lunch and then we went to see Planet 51 - it's very eerie looking out there - everything is covered with a white haze - not a good sign - I'm just glad to be home
 
I love snow the more the merrier, I am originally from a hot climate, so my first experience was magical, and I still feel the same way 33 years later. I just simply love to shovel snow, my hubby thinks that I am crazy, but I am the first out there with a shovel either cleaning around our cars because of course I keep my motorcycles in the garage, and then I look around to see who needs help, it's just wonderful to me. When snow is falling look for me perched on the window sill, I can sit there for hours just looking at it falling so white so clean, so different.
 
after all the years of shoveling for myself and all the neighbors - I've did my time - I served my sentence

yes it can be beautiful - if it is snowing - straight down and not blowing at 80 MPH sideways for days on end
 
thank you for asking! I've just got a cold now - I think it's time to spend more time outside and build up my resistance or something - but it's been so cold and windy - this morning I wash shoveling icy snow as it was raining and starting to turn to ice balls - someday I'll be rich and live on a tropical island and I won't have to shovel anymore (and to think I always wanted to have a ranch in Montana with the mountains in my back yard!)
 
No wonder you cannot get rid of it. You keep having to get out into the bad weather again and again. I hope you feel better soon.
I started vitamin D and it really seems to have helped my immunity.

Our 60 degree days are gone. It has been 35 and a cold blowing rain for two days now. The kind of weather that makes your joints hurt. My elbows are so stiff when I get up in the morning when it is doing this I have a hard time straightening them out.
 
All week we've had ice-fog and freezing rain, w/ sheets of ice 1/8" thick covering the entire car- plus sidewalk, parking lot, etc. I about fell on my azz more than once trying to keep my balance while scraping/chipping ice off my windshield. Another BIG one with COLD and SNOW is supposed to be here in time for the weekend- oh joy!
 
Griz, you need to get some of those ice grippers that stretch on over your boots. They have little studs that help prevent slipping on the ice. My wife and I have them and they really work well. Walmart sells them and so does QVC but I'm sure they're available other places. Worth buying.
 
Good idea, Bubba! We actually used a couple types of those "ice cleats" up north and they do work really well. Up north the vehicles also have studs- had to remove them from our tires May 1st every Spring... They worked purty good, too! :)
 
there's a lot of dampness in the air - my arthritis just loves it - Janie you talk about arthritis - I even have it in my face and it's no fun - just another result from the accident - but I keep my head and face protected in bad weather and that helps -

right now the streets look pretty good - but its the calm before the storm - it's supposed to hit us real bad - whichh is typical - we always get hit hard the end of January - the snow that is left from the last storms is all heavy and icy - and if we get hammered it's going to be difficult shoveling the new stuff

oh well - just think spring
 
I cannot imagine arthritis in the face. Right now I have my right hand coated in icy hot. Supposed to start raining at any time and pour all day tomorrow and the next day.
 
believe me - I wish it on no one! it'sbad enough having it in other parts of the body -

Janie - buy yourslf a bottle of pure peanut oil and heat it on the stove (not the microwave) just to warm and not burn you (about a tablespoon). Apply it to your wrist - do it several times a day for a couple weeks. Let me know if it feels better. Just massage it in the affected area. You can wrap it in clean cloth or buy a package of cheesecloth and use that - it washes well. It's more to keep the oil from getting on your clothing and other things than anything else.
