and just when you thought fishing was safe . . .

Well JP I do not know how to make Gar prepared in any form! BUT>>>Alligator tail, well that is quite another thang! I have fried it and I love it! If it is done right that thar gator meat is danged good! :D

By the way folks on a more serious note we need to pary that the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico is going to be miraculously contained SOONER than later! It is very bad & serious, it will impact a great place and the effects are going to be terrible for a long time! Please pray.......

I'm worried about that oil spill too Cathy even living up in north Louisiana. It's not something we need at all.

BTW I've never eaten any part of the gar. However I might try it sometime since you say it is good. What do you mean by the tail, the fin itself or the meat behind it? People are funny about fish. In the mammal and bird world we tend to eat the Herbivors (Sp) and not the Carnivors. However with fish we do it the other way around. All your eatable game fish are meateaters and we ignore the plant eaters like gou.

Oh JP I believe you misread what I wrote, it is the real thing Alligator meat from the tail of the Gator that I have eaten and it is so good! I would never eat Gar. As you mentioned we do eat mostly herbivores! I am not sure fish even fish that eat fish would qualify for being carnivores. I guess it would be a matter of interpretation. I would be afraid to eat dog, cat or any carnivorous animals, it just seems dangerous to me for no particular reason that I actually know of, it is just a feeling I have that it may not be so good to do.

I am praying that the company that is burning the oil will be successful in stopping further damage from this spill! I hope they can get it to quit spewing oil so that we won't have to worry!
