Another Legend Gone...

RE: "Of all Dolly's songs..."

Not to embarrass you publicly, Cathy... but that wasn't Dolly. Barbara Mandrell sang that- w/ a quick cameo vocal offered by George Jones at the end... Unless of course she did a cover over it at some point that I've never happened across.

Dolly of course is a tremendous song-writer who's penned thousands of songs, but she's known for covering others' songs too. In fact, it's kind of her trade-mark these days to re-make famous pop-songs with her own trade-mark bluegrass twist. She's re-made many songs that way the last few years, like: "If" by Bread, "Time For Me to Fly" by REO Speedwagon, "Shine" by Collective Soul, "Peace Train" by Cat Stevens, "He Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals, "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin, "In the Ghetto" Elvis Presley, "House of the Rising Sun" by BB King, etc...

You are right Kev that WAS Barbara:eek: and I really loved her too!!! I am getting forgetful these days!!! I love that song "Islands In The Stream"
and I think Dolly did that:confused: but who the guy singer was with her but that was one heck of a song!

"Islands in the Stream" was a duet w/ Kenny Rogers, Cath. Know who wrote it? Robin and Barry Gibb from the Bee-Gees. They once did a fantastic concert on HBO where they sang the bounty of songs they've written that other artists have performed over the years- folks from Celine Dion to Barbara Streisand and Olivia Newton John. It was a fantastic show to see! (I like Barbara Mandrell too! Another Barbar M. claim to fame- she built the largest log home <mansion> in the world- and the only log home in the world w/ a helicopter-pad!)

I loved watching Dom when he first began as a comedian, and his movies later on. I never tried his recipes but did see some of his recipes here and there. Would love for the folks who have tried them to post more.

Barry Gibb was oh so easy to look at too!

Chubbs, I saw Barbara's log cabin from afar. Awesome. Loved her dog's name; Dandy Lion.

Dolly has been a favorite of mine since she began with Porter Wagoner back in the early 60's. I saw her on the Today Show recently. She is as lovely as ever, and that wonderful voice has not changed at all.

Mouth watering meatballs!

I love meatballs! Every time my son Petros comes home from USA,
the first course is always meatballs, Greek style, which is almost the same
as the Dom Deluise's mom's . The only deference is that we add some
mint, fresh or dry, and no cheece. I will try yours ,I am sure we will
love them! Thanks.

I have been trying to find a few of his recipes online til I get the chance to order one of his books. Thought I would post them in case anyone else is interested. I found several others but I havent had the chance to fix the formatting and post them yet.

I have loved Barbara Streisand since I was a little girl. I watched all her movies and collected her albums. I still listen to her.

My fav Streisand movie was easily "The Prince of Tides" adapted from Pat Conroy's novel... (her son Jason Gould , also plays her son in the movie...)

And I absolutely LOVE her voice. I can't really say which songs are my fav- I like so many, but I love "Left in the Dark Again", "Evergreen", "Somewhere" and the duet she did w/ Celine Dion "Tell Him", as well as the duet w/ Bryan Adams "I Finally Found Someone".

I finally got one of his cookbooks ordered this morning.
I got "Eat This Again: It'll Make You Feel Better" new for $16.45 plus $3.99 shipping through Amazon.
I can't wait til it comes in.

They sent me a ship notice yesterday. I am really looking forward to it. I have gotten books from that same place before and they ship really quick.

Yes it is loaded with many wonderful dishes to choose from.
Ever since spring time came I have been craving veggies so this soup was perfect.
