That's true Jafo- and if one happens onto a nice pair of cast-off antlers in the woods, they look dandy tied or duct-taped to one's car to replace a broken-off hood ornament! Adds a real touch of class!

That broken-off hood ornament was just appraised on Antiques Roadshow for over $3,000. This one I think was the screw on/off type which was in reality the radiator cap. Yup, the radiator cap used to be on the outside of the car so it was easy to get at every 20 miles or so to fill with water.

I saw that last night too, CanMan. Are you talking about the bronze maiden sculpture one? The one the gal keeps on her coffee table that the cats keep knocking over? Ha!
