Careless Neighbors

It is the peanut butter fudge recipe my Mom always used.

2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup whole milk
1 stick of butter

I boil the first three ingredients til they reach soft ball on a candy thermometer. I stir the candy til it reaches the desired temp.
Then I take it off the stove and add 1t good vanilla and 1 cup peanut butter. Mix very thoroughly. Pour into buttered dish and cool.

If I want to make chocolate peanut butter fudge I add 2T cocoa powder to the first three ingredients. Most people ask for the peanut butter.

Wow what a thread! I gotta big kick out of reading it, thru & thru!!! Neighbors can go from one extreme to the other these days, I like the idea of living like Francie does 1/2 mile away from the nearest house:D

Sometimes I like that idea too.
Jon likes living in town.

Yeah I am a people person, I adore people, but as I get older I find that I really cherish my solitude more each day!

Mapiva I totally understood what Janie meant by saying she would like to have a little chat with her neighbor regarding his careless and wreckless endangerment of his neighbors, not to mention his own apt. Janie has the added responsibility of worrying about not only her dog, but her hubby who has a visual impairment and is legally blind. I certainly understand her need to vent and blow off some steam after an event like that scarring the living daylights out of her. I can honestly admit I myself would probably do a little venting as well:D

If anything this thread has taught me another valueable lesson in the safety of our home from fires. We should NEVER take anything for granted even a lit candle:eek: I wonder how many fires really are started by an unattended candle?

After we had that little fire in our bathroom a few years ago Jon finally told me fire was the one thing that really scared him about being blind. I can understand why it would.

I'll bet it does, I imagine being blind sometimes to acquaint myself with what a person who is truly blind must go through, and I would be scarred of Soooo many things including walls, stairs, and the list goes on... I would truly have so many things to adjust to and I can imagine the first 2 yrs. or so I would be in shock, until the reality of it all set in. I can only imagine, I am so glad that your Jon and my bro-in-law have such terrific wives, who are great partners, and in so many ways only one who has been there can imagine!

Your are very kind Cathy. I count myself lucky to have found you and many others on here and call you friends.

Absolutely!!! Always & forever!!!

I too am very fortunate to have such lovely new friends all thanks to SpicePlace forum. In my daily life I seldom have spare time to chat on the phone much less visit neighbors (I do sneak next door when I possibly can:)and Mary & I laugh and enjoy our brief visits), at least here I can sit down and BINGO there are friends I can reach out & share with that have similar interests and we can communicate and I am so glad for the opportunity, and I do not care if it be on-line friends are friends no matter!
