:DIn Honor of finding out our own Sister Cathy is so talented...I thought it would be interesting to post this thread.

So we can get to know everyone better....how about we post one thing about yourself....one thing in a post then wait till someone else posts one before posting again. If MamaM is ok with that...

One thing about myself hmm.... I am completely OCD about small rooms. When we were house hunting, if my elbows hit any doorways or walls in a room, I refused to continue. I like having a lot of space. As cute as many of the old houses are in my area, the idea of bumping my head by going up the stairs too fast makes them obsolete in my opinion. My wife on the other hand loves those old Victorians, etc..

Golly, I'm pretty upfront and open about thangs... don't know if I can even think of anything worth mentioning- I'm pretty much what-you-see is what-you-get! Wish I had a DOOZIE-SECRET to share!

Okay- I had to go waaaayyyy back...

When I was four I killed my neighbor's cat. Now- before you get all hostile on me- it was an accident. I was playing with the l'il critter and without having a clue, I closed it inside a Coleman Cooler and flipped the lock-switch. Daddy found it next day and took me with him when he went to tell neighbor Gabby, what had happened. Know what she said? She told my Dad- "I want you to spank that boy- and I want to watch." Dad did as she demanded- heck he would have likely spanked me anyway after we got back home. But I thought that was kinda a weird thing, looking back on it now... like her witnessing my beating was gonna make her kitty come back or something! Needless to say, I thought smelly ole Gabby was a total witch after that! But I'm sure she didn't waste no soft feelings on me either... I can just hear her hissin' "Cat Killer!" all crabby and hunched-over, everytime she looked out her window and saw me playin'! Ha! Poor ole Gabby... I bet she's up in heaven now with her beloved kitty chantin' hexes on me and stickin' pins in a fat voo-doo doll w/ my name on it!

The only thing I can think of about me that unusual is I never dated anyone til I met Jon. I was 28 years old and had never so much as had a boyfriend. I stayed at home and helped look after my sick Dad and pretty much raised my little sister from the time I was 12. My older Sis was grooming dogs for people and Jon and I met when he brought his guide dog to get groomed. Dog set me up..he was looking to retire lol.

Oh Gee Kevin ! I can just picture Ms Gabby giving you the Evil eye ! poor baby !
And Kevin my son killed a Kitty when he was 4 yrs old too. He was playing with a hammer.I wasn't at home when it happened. But he popped the kitty on the head with that hammer and no more kitty! LOL...darlin didn't realize what he had done ...he cried so hard when he told me that kitty wouldn't play with him anymore.I made sure you did not get the hammer anymore.
Jafo...I love Victorian houses too and lived in one that we redone...that was with the X and we sold it.
Thats so romantic Janie ! Good doggie !

Did I tell you guys after Jons guidedog passed away we buried him at Jons Dads house. The next day less than 24 hours later there were three full grown peace lillys in full bloom in the center of the dogs grave. It freaked Jons Dad out totally. Every year the lillys come back but they are always inside the circle of the grave. No one had ever even had those flowers there before.
Jons Dad was so feaked about it he called and had us come see them for ourselves.

Oh how awesome ! Janie ! Little miracles have a way of popping up.

First of all guys I love sharing like this it makes me feel nearer and dearer to each of you, I felt like crying for the kids when I read Kev & Francie's posts about little 4 yr. old's innocently killing kittens:( how touching and sad.

So my one thing is I am very easily moved to tears. Just this past weekend when we arrived at our KOA, 1st thing we did was slap on out swimming suits and head for the pool for a nice cool dip. Well we're just getting started on our swim and all of the sudden we hear a bugle playing "Taps", we turn around and the camp owner is blowing a bugle as the other employee lowers the flag, we stop and face the flag just as we are, standing right there in the pool, and tell our 8 yr. old to do the same. Well ya' all I suddenly got so choked up and I was forcing back tears and was so glad when it ended so I could splash cold water in my face and gain my composure. I guess it just really hit me hard and out of the blue and I started thinking about our kids and men over there in Iraq and it just surfaced when I heard "Taps" being played! I am very patriotic and always get choked up when I hear the Star Spangeled Banner, I can say honestly I have always been that way:eek:

One thing about myself is....I'm touchy about my hair...lol.. as some of you know...I'm a natural readhead.....my hair is long, down to my waist...for some reason I get asked a lot (mostly by women ) when am I going to cut "all that hair off ' ?....and most of those women have really short hair. Why is it a big deal to others that my hair is long ? ...lol...It is just my preference.

Hmmmmmm? Let's see?

I'm 29, just moved here from New York, and I'm having trouble adjusting to Los Angeles.....Oh, wait, that was a different movie.

Francie, I think some people are just plain "stupid"! They do not really mean to but they can offend or sound critical and I do not for the life of me understand why. Personally I love long hair and wish I could grow mine long, but it's too fine to look really good long so I keep it med. length, although recently I cut it shoulder lenght and love it for the summer and working in the garden and getting all sweaty it just works for me!

Another little something about me.....I am also into Rock-hounding and collecting minerals and gew stones in the rough! I have found some beautiful garnets before and some rutile crystals, quartz crystals, agate, sapphire, green tourmaline (that was up in Maine), and that's just a few. I had a georgeous collection which sadly I had to leave behind when I moved here. I had to do some serious down-sizing!!! But I kept a few choice pieces and all my jewelry of-course. I collect all types of gemstones and crystals and have jewelry that is so diverse a collection it is unreal! I even do wire-wrap jewelry, took a class on it years ago and it is something you never forget! I have hunted for rocks all over the US from one coast to the other. I have almost placed my hand on a scorpion and once I was hammering away at a rock only to look right below where the rock lay and spotted a copper head sunning, it was just beginning to be Spring and he was still lethargic from hibernation or he probably would have struck me. Thank God he did not for we were pretty far out in the boonies at an old closed down Mica mine. That is where I found my 1st beautiful garnet crystals! OK guys ya' all hurry up and tell me some more! So I can tell you some more!

I envy long hair and especially red.
My little niece is a red head..its so pretty.
The longest mine ever gets is about bra length and its so curly it always looks shorter. I always tease Jon that when I get up in the morning and my hair is every which way its GOOD to be married to a blindman lol.

LOl..Janie....

Ok another thing.....I had two broken toes at the same time. One on each foot ..same toe on each foot...lol..but not funny at the time !

I'm with you, Cathy! I can cry at the drop of a hat! In fact, I'm crying now just readin' about you and "Taps" and Francie's poor broken toes! Hee-Hee!

(Excuse me- now it's time to watch "Steel Magnolia's" for a good cry!)

Crazy, huh- Cathy?

I can cry at a good chewing-gum commercial!

I was at my sister's this morning- took a couple of boxes of Krispy-Kremes over there after my night-shift ended... Ended up blubbering like a baby cause they showed two really sad country music videos back-to-back... the new one by Carrie Underwood where the young finace ends up burying her intended hubby who comes back from Iraq draped in a flag- and then the Rascal Flatts video where the young girl's boyfriend is killed in a car accident. Dang- I was a total wreck until my bro-in-law passed me the donut box again!

I cant stand to watch anything like that..make me cry to.
I hate to watch anything were someone is getting humiliated or picked on. When we subbed in the highschool there was always some snotty kid picking on someone in class. I always took the kid they were picking on and sat them up by us and if anyone wanted anything they had to clear it through that kid. The snobby kids were always asking to do this or go there. They had to ask the kid they had been picking on and the answer was always no lol. We made them king or queen for the day.
Ill never forget this one jock was picking on this hispanic kid making fun of her english. WEll you know one word she could say in plain english....NO ..which he heard everytime he wanted to do anything lol.

Oh yeah...I had a stalker once.
He followed me everytime I left the house and if I was in the drive through at McDonalds he would circle the place. Mom and Dad had a lawyer write him a letter but it had no effect. My older brothers waiting and cornering him one morning when I went to town however did. They told him what they were gonna do to him if they caught him following me again and the problem went away. Its funny now but then I was pretty freaked out by it. He was ALOT older than me at the time I was like 23 and he was in his 50's. He had a history of doing it to other women in town.
My Dad was a drunk and worthless but I appreciated my brothers for sticking up for me. I dont know what would have happened if it wasnt for them. This clown told me once when I came out of the store that "someone" oughta throw me in the car and take off with me. When Id come out of the store he would be sitting right beside my car. He rented a house a little way down the road from us and used to sit in the yard watching for me to leave in the car.
I was glad to hear the creep died a few years back.

Lord janie- what a story! When I read the first line of your tale I smiled and my line back to you was gonna be- "how nice it must be to have a stalker- I should be so lucky!" But then I read your account and totally changed my mind. How completely freaky! If he were still around today, you could turn mama loose on his sorry azz!
