I'm Glad it is Over.

I guess my position is I don't believe in or trust organized religion in any form. I think a persons faith should be an entirely personal and private matter and not subject to the interpretations of "leaders" who have no more idea what it's all about than you do. I detest the money and power games that come with that.

A really sore subject here in my opinion regarding the elimination of christian Holidays.

You take such a small percentage of people that do not believe in God. They do nothing but complain when ever anything that ressembles religion comes into play. To avoid lawsuits it seems that the other 90% bend over and kiss their arses. It peeeves me off to the fullest extent.

Here in NJ no public school can play or sing any Christmas music or songs containing any Christian words or characters. No Christmas Tree or Christmas decorations are allowed. What ever happend to tolorance and the learning of different cultures. It was fine for my children to come home from school with work regarding a made up Holiday like Kwanza.
It is also ok for someone to rub crap on art work in art galleries.
( 1 school actually took a couple of religious songs, changed the wording to do a tribute to Obama, that was ok though)

Without the vocals, Some Christmas music dates back how many years? If that music isn't art, I don't not know what is. It seems crap is less offensive to the population than is religious art.

We had an istance here this year where a public school had the gall to put up a giving tree . Cards could be selected to give gifts to the needy. 1 person complained. Just 1 person....The person claimed that their 6 and 8 year old children were offended by the tree and were suffering, lose of sleep and such. The tree was removed instantly.... If a Municipality has the nerve to put up any Christmas type decorations, lawsuits come out of the wood work like termites on a warm day. One town had a display with 3 or 4 different religious back grounds. The Athiest wanted one included for their belief of the Giant Flying Spaghetti Monster. No joke.

Yes, not all Christians are by any means good Christians. In my opinion this day and age, Political Correctness is taking over religion. We as humans are not all the same type of beings. We all have differences. Just look at the selection we have here at Spice Place.

To be honest, if every Christian were a good Christian, followed the beliefs of their church, laws and Constutional rights were followed to the beliefs of 90% of the population, as the laws should .....

Chef, odd as it might seem, I agree with you. We allow a small but loudmouthed minority to dictate terms. They need to be put in thier place. IMO, if Christmas must be removed all references to ALL holidays must be removed. I see it as all or none, no compromise. I enjoy seeing my Christian friends celebrate their beliefs and put up their decorations. It's really quite pretty. Everyone should be free to celebrate as they believe and none should have the power to prevent them.

I actually broke a personal rule I have, a day or so back- and made comments here about my religious views. I know better.

I had a acquaintance once who was flooding my inbox with dozens of religious based emails she was forwarding on to me. When I told her very nicely I loved hearing from her but to please stop flooding my email with religious information she was shocked and very sincerly told me she didnt know....since I has always seemed so nice lol. It was like the person she knew me to be disappeared when she found out I was agnostic lol.

Everyone has the right to believe or not believe as they want. We have tons of friends of many different religions and we all respect each others point of view. There are some situations and some people you avoid the topic with though. We maintain a couple of computers for a local preacher even lol.
