But JG you're really GG (Gadget Girl) in disguise I just can not believe you do not have one yet!!!
My Mom used to surprise us kids once in a while when we were little, and she would fix us waffles for dinner when my Dad had to work 2nd shift--- she never had to make us clean our plates on those nights
I had a little round waffle (non-stick) iron, I hated it and I think I need to just find one of the old fashioned heavy old stainless steel jobs! They make the most beautifuul crisp and delightful tasting waffles
I put a rub on some chicken wing drummets and let them sit in the fridge for 4 hours.
Put in a marinade of apple juice and more rub for several hours.
Used the hickory chips and Jon who is a very tough critic loved them.
After the wings we done I smoked some corn on the cob I had soaking in water for several hours. I had no idea smoked corn was so good.
Im very happy with this purchase
Cannot wait to smoke some salmon.
My only complaint is it turned black in some places. The book said that was to be expected.
I strongly concur w/ KYH. The nastiest commercial kitchen injuries I've seen (and I've seen lots) have been caused by mandolins. At another forum not too long ago we discussed use of mandolins. The company I worked for for several years in Alaska actually prohibited certain models of them. They went so far as to gather them up from roughly 40 kitchens and then took them all for re-cycling. We even had a sous chef who was terminated for violating policy and using one anyway. If anyone has a mandolin, PLEASE use extreme care and caution, and be very aware of where and how they are stored. I recommend keeping them locked inside of a tool-box or some such to totally close them off from accidental, casual contact.
some folks toss things into deep drawers or onto shelves with all kinds of other things and that always makes me nervous. many times folks find sharp things like glass, blades, etc. with their hands/fingers and that can be a recipe for yuchy ugliness! i wish there was never a need for band-aids in the kitchen- ever. but... (yikes!)
lol I had a boo boo this morning.
Jons Dad gave me some smaller new potatoes to make potato salad with and I had some leftover. I decided to thin slice them and fry them up to go with breakfast.
My crazy dog is asleep on his dog bed in the kitchen and I guess he was having a bad dream. I was down to my last two taters and mini cujo comes up out of his bed like satan himself is after him and I jump and just nicked the side of my finger on my v-slicer. Thank God I wasnt using the mandoline. I could have lost a finger lol.
I broke the cardinal rule and wasnt using the guard BUT that v-slicer is not that great or sharp and the guard with it is useless. I would never use the mandoline without the guard.
It didnt get me bad. Just enough to remind me which ever I use to make sure and be more carefull AND that the dogs bed is in the livingroom lol. I swear the older he gets the more he does that. He can be sound asleep on your lap or beside you and hear something or nothing and jump up snarling. He did it one day while he was asleep on Jons lap.
I know I shouldnt laugh but you should have seen Jon throw his hands in the air. He looked like he was part of a stagecoach robbery lol.
just another reason why I don't like those things!
glad you're ok!
as far as mini cujo goes - he can sleep outside for the 4th and listen to the fireworks for that!!! (just kiddin' - no animal should have to put up with that noise!)
The fireworks used to really bother my rabbit Baron. Nothing like something that sounds like shots when your a rabbit. One year they actually set up a booth selling those things right next door. We happened to know the people who did it and the last night they set up a big sound system and started blasting rock music! Our walls were vibrating. Jon and I went over very nicely and told them either turn it down or we were calling the police. Nothing personal but it was like 9:30 at night. They turned it off. Unfortunately they set off so many freakin fireworks that night they were even pieces of them on the cars in the lot the next morning where they shot them up in the air.
Your not supposed to be allowed to set of fireworks in the city limits here but they never ever enforce it. Personally I think they are a big waste of money.
Mini Cujo likes them about as well as the bunny did lol.
Im pretty sure under all of his hair my dog has a yellow streak. You may not be able to see it but its there lol.
The newest thing I bought for the kitchen is a Presto electric griddle a couple weeks ago. I've been using it to cook breafast lunch and dinner to keep from using the stove to keep from heating up the kitchen durring the summer.
I DO have a food processor - K'Aid's top-fo-the-line model KPFP850PM Pearl Metallic Food Processor, which has a mini bowl with its own small chopping blade.
Hello Big Daddy's Kitchen. I take it you are a fan of the newest food network star.
Anything that helps me from heating up the kitchen in the summer is a God send lol.
Let's see, is it my name, or is it because I have a picture of Aaron McCargo Jr. in my avatar? Haha!! Something tells me that you're fond of the panda.
Yeah, I can't take too much heat in the kitchen. Anything to get out of using the stove at all on torridly hot days.
Read my thread in the Introduction section. I think you'll get a kick out of it.
