New years day dinner!

Happy 2011 guys.
We did not get out and do anything. Waiting til Tuesday or so and then we plan to go to our fav chinese place. We figured it would be crazy busy everywhere over the weekend. For the past two nights here you could sit on the balcony and watch them arrest drunk drivers off the street in front of here. So many blue flashing lights it at times looked like Christmas all over again lol.

I know Janie- funny, huh? Except instead of hearing the lovely festive sounds "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night" on the sound-track of this holiday weekend, we were hearing "Bad Boyz- Bad Boyz..." (the theme to "Cops"!) HA! :)

We were leaving my mother in laws last night with Jon's stepdad and they had a guy pulled over right in their driveway blocking the exit. It was two county sheriffs cars. Jon's stepdad rolled down his window and asked what happened and they said it was DUI. Jon's Mama said they towed the car and took the guy to jail. This town has a horrible drug problem. Our new sheriff took office with the new year and is cracking down alot. Lets hope it lasts and isnt just for show.
Someone broke into my neighbors car here a few nights ago and stole a toolbox. His car was parked right next to mine in the lot downstairs when it happened. So far they havent bothered mine yet.

geez - don't leave anything in your car! It's nice to hear that a new sheriff is trying to clean up - unfortunately - he is needed in many other cities and towns as well. It is getting bad - actually worse - crime pays more than jobs do to some - its so sad.

The majority of the cops here are like putting the fox in charge of the hen house. We know the new sheriff and have our fingers crossed he sticks to this but I really doubt he will. Time will tell I guess. It has gotten so bad here that I catch myself parking at the stores and making sure I park as close as I can to the doors because Jon always stays in the car most of the time. I know he is the guy but since he cannot see anyone coming its my job to look out for him. I always tell him to keep the doors locked til I come back. These drug addicts will rob anyone.

I feel for you Janie. Our little town has its bad sections but we live on a road that ends in a loop. Sort of like a large Cul-de-Sac (Don't ck my spelling) neighborhood just outside of town. A lot of people walk for their health, including me, and we know everybody. With our kids coming home without notice sometimes we haven't locked our door in over a year. Like a hundred years ago or something.

Sounds like it's time to buy some hand guns and shotguns and take some
shooting classes - join a gun club; get a CCW. The only place I don't go heeled is when I sub teach school but then the cops are always close by there. One should not be afraid to go shopping.
