PB&J question

As a kid, I used to like to take my peanut butter and jelly, put them in a bowl, and mix them before putting them on the sandwich. For some reason, it always tasted different (sweeter) than just putting jelly on one side and peanut butter on the other. Anyone else done this?

I have - it makes spreading easier and the jelly doesn't fall off the peanut butter and onto your lap!

When I was a kid they had a product that was just that. The peanut butter and jelly together in one jar. It was more swirled together instead of being thoroughly mixed as you describe. Can anyone remember what the name of that product was?

That's so funny! ;) I'm always spilling stuff on myself when I eat. I try not to, but it's fate I guess.

Yeah - it never fails - everytime I go on a picnic my "shelf" collects something! I can eat clean at home - but not on a picnic!!!!

I've learned to spread ketchup and mustard on my hotdog roll and press the roll closed so that they stick to the sides of the bun before I place the hotdog on the bun. Also, I place the relish and onion on the bun first and top it with the hotdog - try to keep the shelf clean - LOL!

The peanut butter and jelly swirl I was talking about was made by Smuckers and was called Goobers. Does anyone remember this product? Do they still make the product?

I think it is still available. Never tried it - I like to "smush" it together myself (still like a kid in some ways!)

That's a great idea, but I've never liked jelly (I'm the guy who just makes them with peanut butter), so I won't ever use that technique, well, at least not for PB&J.

I have seen it in the stores here in Texas. Brookshires still carries it.

I've seen "goobers" or whatever it's called at Super Target as well. Come to think of it, I think they have other flavors, not just grape jelly, too.

I tried Nutella once with peanut butter and was not pleased. Anyone else tried Nutella? It sounded good, but eh....wasnt impressed.

I used cream-cheese instead of peanut butter the other day. Y-U-M!

Nutella is fantastic as a dessert topping, such as on crepes. A little goes a looong way. That stuff is supa-rich.

I have tried Nutella as well on PB&J. yeah it was not too good. I just stick to Jiffy. =)

I have seen goobers at superwalmart and food lion as well as BiLO here in Charlotte. I have never tried it. I may get it for my kids one day.

Really great for kids. less work. I also like the Welchs that is squeezable. Anything to save time.

I like peanut butter but never really cared much for jellies. Jellies are kind of too sweet for me so i don't think I like the to of them mixed. I will have to pass on that.

Sometimes, I like to have apple jelly with peanut butter rather than grape jelly.

I have never been able to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in my life, even when I was a little kid... for some reason it grosses me out. Only way I can eat jelly is on toast with butter and the only way I can eat peanut butter is by itself on crackers, celery, bread, etc. :)
