Looks like Spike may not be able to hear. He never acknowledges sound of any kind. I knocked a flashlight off the shelf and on to his cage and he never even woke up. I was reading that can be a common issue with any blue eye white animal. It makes now difference to us at all but it does explain why he is so mellow.
 
If he is hard of hearing - then I am glad he is in a loving home and is getting spoiled! God brings His creatures into our lives for a reason - just like the people He sends our way - whether they are pleasant or not.
But why do I have so many spammers???????????????
 
I'm very glad he is here to Mama. I had always figured he would be afraid of the dog because a dog got into her barn the night before I got him and killed a Mama bunny and her babies just feet from the cage where he was with his Mom. I was amazed he isnt afraid of the dog but it makes sense if he couldnt hear anything when that dog killed the other bunnies. I was reading that it is not uncommon for bew animals in dogs, cats and others to be deaf or even blind. Something to do with the bew white gene being recessive.
 
Yeah Pooh still has nightmares about my past rabbit Baron. When Pooh barked at Baron his ears would twitch. I have done everything trying to get Spike to notice sounds but he doesnt. A place where he is a spoiled house bunny was the best place for him.

My sis says we may get the kids a bun for Easter. Might want to steer clear of getting them a blue eye white. They have two dalmations and two cats already. Hearing might be a matter of survival in that house.
 
I didnt know blue eye white rabbits are albino. I just thought they were white buns with blue eyes. It seems from what I read that the albino trait commonly causes eye and sight problems. I had noticed this little guy had really pink skin but I thought that was just because he has the white fur. It explains why his toenails are so hard to cut. They have no color and are very hard to see. The lady he came from has several more blue eye whites and a few colored ones to choose from ready for Easter. My sis said she has to clear it with her hubby about getting the girls one. If he says ok Im getting them one. If it were me I would want another bew but I dont think she wants one fearing it might not be able to hear.

You have a big job with all of the spammers Mama. Is there anyone helping you at all?
I hope they are paying you very well because it would have to take up a lot of your time.
 
I'm alone with the spammers - nothing like feeling you're backed into a corner with no where to go. And the negative comments by our members makes me feel like I'm not doing my job. No I don't get paid a cent for this. Not one penny. I was asked to moderate to help keep the spammers away - I have some rights on the site - but I don't have all rights on the site. My hands are tied. I try. I've spent hours on line banning them as they registered - it did no good. If they post - all I have to do is click on the post to get rid of them. It's all I can do. I can't sit here all day banning them as they register - when I do that I get more and more registering. I stand alone. And it's quite lonely and depressing.
 
I had told Jon I thought you were taking care of the site on a volunteer basis. I know it has to eat up a lot of your time every single day. I very much appreciate you giving up your valuable time Hon. Are there any other web tools that guy who posted here before as ADMIN could implement to help you out with all of the spamming? I don't remember the guys name. I just remember him posting as ADMIN before and then trying to help me figure out why I couldnt post when he changed the site a few years back. Turned out to be a setting under my internet security that I eventually figured out on my own.
 
Mama, I am grateful for what you do. And I truly enjoy all the good post. When I complain about the spammers. It is not directed at you. Its just my feelings about spammers. CF:)
 
I realize that these jerks are getting to us all - I'm mature enough to understand that the negativity is directed at them and not me. I have limited "powers" and I am trying my very best. I have contacted the site owner and I am waiting for a reply - I do know that he is a very busy person - so I need to be patient. In the mean time - I guess I'll just do the best I can. Thank you Janie and CF. It will get better.
