Saving energy costs

Another idea is appliances. Obviously when you're not using the tv you'll want to shut it off, but how soon will you be turning it back on? The same is said for the computer. It takes less power to leave it turned on for a little while than it does to turn it back on.

And investing in new windows & insulation is great in the long run. Won't be saving money right now ... but it DOES help !!!

And darnit kids!!! Shut that door! Were ya raised in a barn?!?

LOL, rt49andellis. My daughter is infamous for standing at the door talking to her friends while the A/C is on. My husband always tells her, "Shut the door, we're not cooling the neighborhood." One day she had a smart aleck answer for him... "If everyone left their door open, the neighborhood would be cool and it wouldn't matter."

Kids can be so smart, sometimes.

The key word there is sometimes. I leave the lights on a lot, but other than that, I don't waste much energy.
